NDNU OF Janae Reyes, HPU junior hurler Breanne Patton claim weekly PacWest awards

Janae Reyes PHOENIX, AZ – Notre Dame de Namur junior OF Janae Reyes and Hawai‘i Pacific junior hurler Breanne Patton have been named the Pacific West Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

The PacWest announced the awards on March 28 from its office in Phoenix, AZ, for games contested March 21-27.

(March 28, 2011) - Player of the Week (March 21-27)...Janae Reyes - Notre Dame de Namur (Jr., 5-4, OF, L/R, Porterville, CA/Monache)...led the Argonauts to a 5-1 week in conference play by hitting .652...went 15 for 23 with 10 runs scored, two doubles, four RBI and a .739 slugging rate...also had a .652 on-base mark...was a perfect 6 for 6 in stolen base attempts.

Breanne Patton (March 28, 2011) - Pitcher of the Week (March 21-27)...Breanne Patton - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-7, P/1B, R/R, Ewa Beach, HI/Campbell)...earned the honor for the second straight week and for the fourth time this season...posted a 2-0 record during a 2-2 week for the Sea Warriors...recorded a 0.58 ERA while tossing two complete games - including an 8-0 shutout of Academy of Art on March 27...nipped NDNU 3-2 on March 25.

Teddy Barry Robin Araujo - Notre Dame de Namur (Jr., 5-7, IF R/R, Campbell, CA/Westmont)...led Argos to a 5-1 week by hitting .500 in six starts...9 for 18 with five runs, a double and two homers...recorded 10 RBI, stole four bases and walked four times...also hit a sacrifice fly...registered an .889 slugging rate and a .565 on-base average.

Teddy Barry - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-7, OF L/R, Glendale, AZ/Greenway)...hit .875 in two wins over Western New Mexico...went 7 for 8 with two runs, five RBI and a homer...walked twice...stole two bases...had a .900 on-base mark and a 1.250 slugging percentage.

Ivy Campas - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-2, P, R/R, Tucson, AZ/Sunnyside)...hit .600 in two wins over Western New Mexico...went 3 for 5 with two runs and two RBI...doubled once and drew a walk...had an .800 slugging rate and a .667 on-base mark.

Alissa Castro - Notre Dame de Namur (Fr., 5-6, SS, L/R, Gilroy, CA/Gilroy)...helped the Argos to a 5-1 week by hitting .467...was 7 for 15 with eight runs, two doubles and six RBI...recorded seven walks and stole a base...registered a .600 slugging rate and a .636 on-base average.

Elyse Cordova - Academy of Art (Fr., 5-3, OF, L/R, Tulare, CA/Tulare Union)...hit .438 in six starts...went 7 for 16 with four runs, two doubles and two RBI...stole four bases...had a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt...recorded a .563 slugging rate and a .412 on-base average.

Elyse Cordova Sierrah Garcia - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-7, P, L/R, Los Banos, CA/Los Banos)...posted a 3-2 week in five starts...tossed four complete games and two shutouts...struck out 39 batters in 29.1 innings of action...permitted just six earned runs and a .162 batting average...blanked Hawai‘i Pacific 8-0 on March 27...defeated Hawai‘i Hilo 2-1 on March 25...blanked BYU-Hawaii 2-0 on March 21.

Sammy McConvey - Notre Dame de Namur (So., 6-0, P/IF, R/R, Livermore, CA/Livermore)...helped guide the Argos to a 5-1 week both on the mound and at the plate...hit .400 in six games and five starts by going 6 for 15 with three runs scored...drove in a pair of runs...had a .400 slugging percentage and a .400 on-base average....also posted a 1-1 week in three appearances and two starts...tossed one complete game...struck out 13 in 14.0 innings of work...registered a 1.00 ERA...allowed just two earned runs on 10 hits...permitted a .192 batting average.

Brittnie Miller - Dixie State (Sr., 5-9, P, R/R, Moab, UT/Grand)...earned a complete-game victory vs. Division I Southern Utah on March 22 in 3-1 win...allowed no earned runs while striking out six over 7.0 innings of work.

Hillary Ruddick - Notre Dame de Namur (So., 5-7, P/OF, R/R, Ukiah, CA/Ukiah)...helped NDNU to 5-1 week by posting a 2-0 mark on the mound...earned wins over BYU-Hawaii and Chaminade...registered a 2.80 ERA in two starts and 10.0 innings of action...tossed one complete game...struck out eight...allowed three earned runs.

Kristina Sewell - Notre Dame de Namur (Sr., 5-7, P/OF, R/R, Arroyo Grande, CA/Nipomo)...turned in a brilliant, complete-game performance vs. Hawai‘i Pacific on March 25 in an 8-4 Argonaut victory...allowed two earned runs over 7.0 innings of action while striking out 10 batters.
