BYU-Hawaii OH Losaline Faka‘osi named final PacWest Volleyball Player of Week for 2010

Losaline Faka‘osi (Salt Lake City,
UT/Highland) has been selected the final Pacific West
Conference Volleyball Player of the Week of 2010.
The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Nov. 15, for matches played Nov. 8-14.
Faka‘osi led the Seasiders to a share of the PacWest title and an automatic berth in the NCAA II National Championship Tournament after beating Hawai‘i Hilo and Chaminade to close out the regular season.
On offense, Faka‘osi ranked fourth in the league in scoring with a 4.64 points-per-game average. She totaled 32.5 points on 27 kills, two aces, one block solo and five block assists. She ranked third for the week in kills per game (3.86).
On defense, Faka‘osi ranked fourth in digs per game with a 6.43 average. She totaled 45 digs in seven sets for the week.
PacWest Volleyball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll
Kelly Balanay - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., MH, 6-0, San Diego,
CA//Valahalla)...tied for fourth in kills per game
(3.50) for the week in the PacWest...totaled 14 in four
games...ranked third in points per game (4.75)...amassed 19 points
on six block assists, two block solos and 14 kills...tied for the
PacWest lead in blocks per game (2.00).
Kimee Clark - Dixie State (Jr., 5-9, S, St. George, UT/Dixie)...led the Red Storm to a 2-0 week...ranked second in assist average (10.71 per game) and third in total assists (75) in the PacWest for the week.
Madisyn Fitzgerald - Dixie State (So., 6-0, M, Mesa, AZ/Mountain View)...led the Red Storm to a 2-0 week to close out the year...ranked second in the league in hitting (.391) for the week...had 22 kills in 46 attempts with just four errors...ranked third in aces per game (0.71) for the week...tied for eighth in blocks per game (1.00)...ranked fifth in points per game (4.50)...totaled 31.5 on 22 kills, five aces, two block solos and five block assists.
Tara Huckvale - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 6-3, MB, LaGrange, KY/Oldham County)...helped the Seasiders capture the automatic berth in the NCAA II Championship Tournament and a share of the PacWest title by hitting .314 in final two contests of the season...had 13 kills and just two errors in 35 attempts...ranked fifth in hitting and seventh in points per game (3.67) for the week in the PacWest...tied for first in blocks per game (2.00)...had 10 block assists, two solos, two aces and 13 kills for 22 points in the two Seasider victories.
Hillary-Lucy Hurley - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 6-2, MB, Anderson,
CA/Enterprise)...led the PacWest in total kills (49),
and ranked second in kills per game (4.45) and points per game
(4.91) for the week in the PacWest...totaled 54 points on her 49
kills, ace, block solo and six block assists...ranked ninth in digs
per game for the week (4.36)...had 48 in 11 games.
Jayci Jeffress - Dixie State (Jr., 5-7, L/DS, Brighton, CO/Brighton)...ranked second in the PacWest in digs per game for the week (6.57)...totaled 46 in seven games...led Red Storm to back-to-back wins at Grand Canyon to close out season.
Stephanie McBride - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-11, MH/OH, Newbury, CA/Newbury Park)...led the PacWest in hitting for the week...posted a .478 percentage on 14 kills and just three errors in 23 attempts...tied for fourth in kills per game (3.50)...ranked sixth for the week in points per game (4.25)...totaled 17 on her 14 kills, two aces and two block assists...tied for seventh in aces per game (0.50)...saw action in just four games but contributed when given an opportunity.
Kyra Pelayo - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-3, DS, San Jose,
CA/Saint Francis)...helped Sea Warriors to a 3-1 win
over Hawai‘i Hilo on Nov. 13 by amassing 42 digs in four
games...led the PacWest in digs per game for the week with a 10.50
average.
Christina Villamayor - Notre Dame de Namur (Jr., 6-1, OH, Poway, CA/Poway)...led the Argos to 3-2 win over Academy of Art in season finale on Nov. 13...totaled 17 kills and two block assists in the match...finished with 18 points...ranked ninth in the PacWest in scoring average for the week (3.60)...ranked sixth in kills per game (3.40).
Dan Yang - Academy of Art (Sr., OH, 6-2, Beijing, China/Beijing 5th Sports School)...led the PacWest in points per game (5.40) and kills per game (4.60) for the week...totaled 27 points on 23 kills and four service aces...ranked second in aces per game (0.80) for the week in the conference.
