NDNU's Christina Villamayor earns PacWest Volleyball Player of the Week honor
PHOENIX, AZ - Notre Dame de Namur junior outside hitter
Christina Villamayor (Poway, CA/Poway)
has been named the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the
Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 27, for matches played from Sept. 20-26.
Villamayor led the PacWest in kills per game (5.43) while ranking second in scoring with a 6.00 points-per-set average. She totaled 42 points on 38 kills and four service aces in leading the Argos to a 1-1 week.
Villamayor also was among the leaders in the PacWest in aces per game (0.57), ranking eighth in the conference for the week, while on defense she ranked seventh after posting 31 digs for a 4.33 per game mark.

Julia Aika Becker - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-10, OH, Kodiak,
AK/Kodiak)...led Seasiders to a win over Chaminade in
lone match of the week...ranked sixth in the league in hitting with
a .360 average...tied for seventh in kills per game (3.33) for the
week...averaged 3.67 points per game to tie for ninth...had 11
points on 10 kills and two block assists in sweep of
Silverswords.
Kelly Balanay - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., MH, 6-0, San Diego, CA/Valahalla)...hit .421 for the week to rank fourth in the conference...had 10 kills and two errors in 19 attempts in lone match of the week - a 3-0 HPU loss vs. Hawai‘i Hilo...tied for seventh in kills per game for the week (3.33)...tied for ninth in scoring (3.67 per game)...had a pair of block assists to go along with 10 kills.
Camille Board - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-11, MB, Redwood City, CA/Notre Dame)...helped guide the Urban Knights to a 2-0 mark by hitting .436 - second best in the conference over the week...posted 20 kills and three errors in 39 attempts.
Lacey (Laycock) Chase - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-8, S, Alpine, UT/Lone
Peak)...ranked fourth in the PacWest in assists per
game (10.67) for the week...topped the league in aces per game
(1.67)...had five aces and 32 assists in lone match of the week - a
3-0 sweep of Chaminade on Sept. 25.
Madisyn Fitzgerald - Dixie State (So., 6-0, M, Mesa, AZ/Mountain View)...led the Red Storm to a 2-0 week in the PacWest by topping the league in hitting (.438)...had 16 kills and just two errors in 32 chances...tied for third in blocks per game with a 1.17 average...had six block assists and a block solo.
Hillary-Lucy Hurley - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 6-2, MB, Anderson, CA/Enterprise)...ranked second for the week in kills per game (5.33), first in points per game (6.50) and ninth in hitting (.308) in the PacWest for the week...totaled 19.5 points on 16 kills, an ace, a block assist and two block solos in sweep of HPU on Sept. 25 - the Vulcans’ lone match of the week.
Jayci Jeffress - Dixie State (Jr., 5-7, L/DS, Brighton, CO/Brighton)...outstanding on defense while helping the Red Storm to a 2-0 week...topped the league in digs per game with a 6.00 average...totaled 36 in six games.
Leilani Ramsey - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-9, OH, Milton,
WA/Fife)...led the Vulcans to a 3-0 win over HPU in
lone match of the week...ranked third in the hitting with a .429
percentage...had 13 kills and just one error in 28 attempts...also
ranked third in the league for the week in kills per game
(4.33)...excellent on defense as well...posted 4.33 digs per game
to rank eighth for the week...totaled 13 digs in the win.
Katie Swenson - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-9, S, Bellevue, WA/Omaha Gross Catholic)...topped the PacWest in assists per game with a 12.00 average...totaled 36 assists in 3-0 sweep of Hawai‘i Pacific - UHH’s lone contest of the week.
Dan Yang - Academy of Art (Sr., OH, 6-2, Beijing, China/Beijing 5th Sports School)...led the Urban Knights to a 2-0 week by averaging 4.00 kills and 4.25 points per game...ranked fifth in scoring and fourth in kills per game for the week in the league...totaled 42.5 points on 40 kills, three block assists and an ace.
