Hawai‘i Hilo's Hillary-Lucy Hurley named PacWest Volleyball Player of Week
PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Hilo junior middle blocker
Hillary-Lucy Hurley (Anderson,
CA/Enterprise) has been named the Pacific
West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 11, for matches played Oct. 4-10.
Hurley guided the Vulcans to a 2-0 week with a pair of conference victories at Dominican (CA).
She led the PacWest in kills per game (6.33), hitting percentage (.413) and scoring after posting 6.67 points per set.
She totaled 40 points in six games on 38 kills and four block assists while committing just seven hitting errors in 75 attempts.

Natasha Bell - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-9, OH, Sunnyvale,
CA/The Kings Academy)...led the Sea Warriors to a 2-1
week...ranked third in kills per game (3.75) and first in total
kills (45)...topped the conference in total points (48) and ranked
third in points per game (4.00)...had six block assists to go along
with the 45 kills.
Laurann Durbin - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-7, L, Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope)...helped Antelopes to 1-1 week by topping PacWest in digs per game (7.25)...ranked second in total digs (58).
Losaline Faka‘osi - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-9, OH, Salt Lake City, UT/Highland)...led the Seasiders to a 2-0 week by averaging 3.75 points per game...tied for sixth in scoring for the week in the PacWest...totaled 30 points on six block assists and 27 kills...tied for fifth in kills per game (3.38) for the week...ranked 10th in hitting in the PacWest for the week (.254).
Lauren Hagemeyer - BYU-Hawaii (So., 6-1, OH, Ridgway,
CO/Ridgway)...helped Seasiders to a 2-0 week by
averaging 3.25 kills and 3.81 points per game...ranked eighth in
kill average and fifth in scoring in the PacWest for the
week...totaled 30.5 points on 26 kills and nine block
assists...tied for fourth in the conference in blocks per game for
the week (1.12).
Jayci Jeffress - Dixie State (Jr., 5-7, L/DS, Brighton, CO/Brighton)...outstanding on defense while helping the Red Storm to a 1-1 week...ranked second in the league in digs per game with a 7.12 average...totaled 57 in eight games.
Kristen Preach - Grand Canyon (So., 5-10, S, Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep)...helped the Antelopes to a 1-1 week by leading the league in assists per game (11.12)...totaled 89 in eight games.
Leilani Ramsey - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-9, OH, Milton, WA/Fife)...led Vulcans to a 2-0 with pair of victories at Dominican (CA)...ranked fourth in hitting (.333) and fourth in kills per game (3.67) in the PacWest for the week...totaled 22 kills in six games...had just six errors in 48 attempts...tied for sixth in scoring for the week with a 3.75 points per game average...had 22.5 points that included the 22 kills and a block assist.
Shelby Taylor - Grand Canyon (So., 6-1, MH, Phoenix,
AZ/Christian)...ranked third on the week in hitting
with a .396 percentage...tied for fifth in kills per game
(3.38)...totaled 31.5 points on 27 kills, five block assists and
two block solos...ranked fourth in the league for the week in
scoring average (3.94).
Katie Swenson - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-9, S, Bellevue, WA/Omaha Gross Catholic)...ranked second in the PacWest in assists per game (10.17) for the week...totaled 61 in back-to-back 3-0 sweeps of Dominican (CA).
Dan Yang - Academy of Art (Sr., OH, 6-2, Beijing, China/Beijing 5th Sports School)...ranked second in points per game (5.25) and kills per game (4.75) for the week in the PacWest...totaled 42 points on 38 kills, an ace, a block solo and four block assists.
