California Baptist junior Ingrid Carmona earns PacWest Volleyball Player of the Week honors

PHOENIX, AZ - California Baptist junior opposite Ingrid Carmona (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Universidad APEC) has been chosen the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.

She becomes the Lancers first PacWest Player of the Week in the school’s brief history in the conference.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 5, for matches contested Aug. 29 - Sept. 4.

Carmona led the Lancers to a 4-0 week by totaling 56.5 points on 47 kills, seven aces and five block assists in 11 sets. She averaged 5.14 points per set to rank second - by percentage points - in the PacWest for the week, while her .359 hitting landed her fifth.

Carmona topped the league in aces per set (0.64) and ranked second in kills per set (4.27).

PacWest Volleyball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll

Shih Ting Chen - BYU-Hawaii (Fr., 5-10, MB, Yunlin, Taiwan/Chung Shan)...helped lead BYU-Hawaii to a thrilling 3-2 comeback win at Division I Weber State...Seasiders down 2-0 before rallying...averaged .60 aces per set to tie for third in the conference for the week...also averaged 3.00 kills for the week to tie for ninth...totaled 18.5 points in the victory on 15 kills, three aces and a block solo...averaged 3.70 points per set to rank eighth in the league for the week.

Megan Davis - Grand Canyon (So., 5-9, OH, Tempe, AZ/Mesa Westwood)...helped Antelopes to a 1-2 road trip to Alaska by averaging 3.88 points per set - fifth in the PacWest for the week...totaled 31 points on 27 kills, two aces and four block assists.

Jelena Dragovic - California Baptist (So., 6-3, MB, Belgrade, Serbia)...helped guide the Lancers to 4-0 week by hitting .426 - second-best in the PacWest...had 28 kills with five errors on 54 attempts...also tied for ninth in aces per set (0.42) for the week...ranked second in block average for the week (1.50)...totaled 42 points on 28 kills, five aces and 18 block assists...ranked 10th in scoring for the week after averaging 3.50 points per set.

Morgan Hill - Dixie State (Sr., 6-0, M, Logan, UT/Logan)...led the PacWest in hitting with a .522 percentage during a 2-2 week for the Red Storm...had 41 kills and six errors during 67 attempts...ranked eighth in kill average (3.15) and third in blocks per set (1.23) in the PacWest for the week...finished the week with 49.5 points on 41 kills, one block and 15 block assists...averaged 3.81 points per set for the week - good enough for seventh in the league.

Hillary Hurley - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-2, MB, Anderson, CA/Enterprise)...led the Vulcans to a 2-0 week by averaging 5.14 points and 5.00 kills per set...topped the PacWest in both categories for the week...also ranked eighth for the week in digs per set (3.43)...totaled 36 points on 35 kills and two block assists.

Leinani Keanini - Academy of Art (Sr., 5-7, OH, Kailua, HI/Iolani)...averaged 4.23 points and 3.60 kills per set in a 1-3 week for the Urban Knights...ranked fourth in the PacWest in both categories for the week...totaled 63.5 points on 54 kills, eight service aces and three block assists...ranked sixth for the week in aces-per-set (0.53)...also ranked fourth in dig average (3.60) after totaling 54 in 15 sets.

Bryana Kekauoha - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 5-10, S/RH, Lawndale, CA/North Torrance)...helped Vulcans to a 2-0 mark by leading the PacWest in assist average (11.14) for the week...posted 78 assists in seven sets.

Kyra Pelayo - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-3, DS, San Jose, CA/Saint Francis)...averaged 7.00 digs per set to lead PacWest for the week...topped the conference in total digs with 112...HPU recorded a 1-3 week.

Jordyn Siko - California Baptist (Fr., 5-10, S, Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills)...rookie setter helped Lancers to 4-0 week by averaging 11.00 assists per set...ranked second in the PacWest in assist average for the week...totaled 99 helpers in four matches.

Christina Villamayor - Notre Dame de Namur (Sr., 6-1, OH, Poway, CA/Poway)...averaged 4.38 points per set despite a 0-5 week for the Argos...ranked third in scoring in the league for the week...led the PacWest in total points with 74.5...posted 71 kills, three aces and one block assist...led the PacWest in total kills and ranked third in kills per set (4.18) for the week.
