Quartet of PacWest teams remain ranked in latest NCAA II West Region Volleyball Poll
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Four Pacific West Conference women’s volleyball teams remained in the running for an NCAA Division II post-season berth.
BYU-Hawaii, Hawai‘i Pacific, Hawai‘i Hilo and Grand Canyon still are ranked in the Top 10 of the latest NCAA Division II West Region Poll. The NCAA released the rankings on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from its offices in Indianapolis.
The Seasiders again grabbed the highest spot on the chart among
PacWest teams. Through Nov. 4, BYU-Hawaii improved its record to
16-3 overall and 13-1 in the PacWest, captured the conference title
and automatic berth in the NCAA II Championship Tournament, and
extended its winning streak to 13 straight matches.
The Seasiders are ranked second behind Cal State San Bernardino and just ahead of third-place UC San Diego.
The Top 8 selections in the region will earn a berth in the NCAA II Championship Tournament come November; however, conferences in the West Region owning automatic qualifiers will have an impact on the selection process.
Hawai‘i Pacific, who hung the lone conference and regional loss on the Seasiders this year, again is ranked sixth in the West Region poll. Through games of Nov. 4, the Sea Warriors are 15-9 overall and 9-5 in the PacWest.
Hawai‘i Hilo remained eighth in the regional rankings this week and carries a 13-6 overall mark and 9-5 PacWest record through Nov. 4 into its final two matches of the season.
Grand Canyon, which is hoping to sneak into the post-season, remains 10th in the region. The Antelopes are one of the hottest teams in the NCAA II West Region with a 20-6 overall record and a 10-4 mark in the PacWest. Grand Canyon currently is riding a school record-setting 12-match winning streak.
