Hawai‘i Hilo senior middle blocker Hillary Hurley named PacWest Volleyball Player of Week
PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Hilo senior middle blocker
Hillary Hurley (Anderson, CA/Enterprise)
has been named the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the
Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 26, for matches contested Sept. 19-25.
Hurley guided the Vulcans to a 1-1 weekend at Dixie State by averaging 7.12 kills and 7.50 points per set. She topped the PacWest in both categories and finished the week with 60 points on 57 kills and six block assists.
Hurley also was outstanding on defense, totaling 30 digs while averaging 3.75 per set - good enough for sixth in the league for the week.

Shih Ting Chen - BYU-Hawaii (Fr., 5-10, MB, Yunlin, Taiwan/Chung
Shan)...averaged 6.67 points per set in sweep of
NDNU...totaled 20 points on 17 kills, one ace and four block
assists...averaged 6.67 points per set - second-best in the PacWest
for the week...ranked second in kills per set (5.67) for the
week...tied for fifth in blocks per set (1.33).
Ying Chun Chen - BYU-Hawaii Pacific (Fr., 5-7, S, Kaohsiung, Taiwan/Chung Shan)...led Seasiders to a 3-0 sweep of NDNU in lone match of the week...led the PacWest in assist average for the week after posting 13.67 per set...totaled 41 assists.
Jen Hardman - Dixie State (Fr., 5-9, S, American Fork, UT/American Fork)...helped Dixie State to a 1-1 weekend vs. Hawai‘i Hilo...totaled 85 assists in the two matches...averaged 10.62 assists per set - second-best in the PacWest for the week...tied for seventh in digs per set (3.50) for the week in the conference.
Lauren Hagemeyer - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 6-1, OH, Ridgway, CO/Ridgway)...ranked third in hitting (.526) for the week...ranked fourth in the league in kills per set (4.33)...tied for second in blocks per set (1.67)...tied for third in scoring for the week (5.33 points per set)...totaled 16 points on 13 kills, four block assists and one block solo.
Angela Heath - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-10, RS, Ewa Beach, HI/James
Campbell)...hit .476 for the week, ranking fifth in
the conference...recorded 12 kills, three block solos and two block
assists for 16 points...tied for third in points per set (5.33) for
the week...ranked second in the league in blocks per set (1.67) for
the week.
Jennifer Jasper - Notre Dame de Namur (Jr., 6-1, MB, San Jose, CA/Prospect)...ranked fifth in kills per set (4.12) and sixth in points per set (4.38) for the week in the PacWest...totaled 70 points on six block assists, one ace and 66 kills...led conference in total kills for the week.
Kyra Pelayo - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-3, DS, San Jose, CA/Saint Francis)...led PacWest in digs per set (7.33) for the week...totaled 22 in 3-0 sweep of NDNU during lone match of the week.
Crystal Powell - Chaminade (So., 5-10, OH, Honolulu, HI/Word of Life)...helped Chaminade to a 1-1 week by averaging 3.95 points per set...ranked seventh in scoring for the week in the conference...totaled 39.5 points on 35 kills, two block solos and five block assists...also ranked seventh in kills per set (3.50) for the week.
Bree Rauschenbach - California Baptist (Sr., 6-0, MB, Wildomar, CA/California Lutheran)...ranked ninth in scoring for the week in the PacWest...averaged 3.62 points per set...totaled 29 points on 17 kills, nine aces, one block solo and four block assists...topped the league in aces per set (1.12)...ranked ninth in hitting with a .366 average...committed just two errors in 41 attempts.
Alex Shearer - Dixie State (Sr., 5-10, RS, Park City, UT/Park City)...helped lead Red Storm to 1-1 week by averaging 4.94 points per set - fifth-best in the PacWest for the week...totaled 39.5 points on 39 kills and a block assist...ranked third in the league for the week in kills per set (4.88).
