HPU junior OH Sanoe Recca earns latest PacWest Volleyball Player of the Week honor

Sanoe Recca PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Pacific junior outside hitter Sanoe Recca (Waimanalo, HI/Kamehameha Schools-Oahu) has been named the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 31, for matches contested Oct. 24-30.

Recca led the Sea Warriors to a pair of road victories at Dixie State on Oct. 24 and 25 after serving up a terrific offensive and defensive performance.

She ranked fifth in the league in kills for the week after averaging 3.75 per set. She also ranked eighth in scoring with her 3.81 points-per-set mark.

Recca totaled 30.5 points on 30 kills and one block assist.

On defense she was terrific, racking up 5.50 digs per set to stand third in the PacWest for the week. She totaled 44 digs in eight sets.

Ingrid Carmona Ingrid Carmona - California Baptist (Jr., 5-10, OPP, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic)...ranked third in points (4.88) and second in kills (4.62) per set for the week in the PacWest...had 39 points on 37 kills, one ace and two block assists...ranked seventh in hitting for the week with a .341 percentage...CBU posted a 1-1 week.

Haley Doerfler - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 6-1, MB, Battle Ground, WA/Prairie)...helped HPU to a 2-0 week with a pair of road victories at Dixie State on Oct. 24 and 25...ranked ninth in scoring for the week in the league after averaging 3.75 points per set...totaled 30 points on 26 kills, a block solo and six block assists...ranked 10th in kills per set (3.25) and sixth in hitting (.354) for the week in the league.

Hillary Hurley - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-2, MB, Anderson, CA/Enterprise)...led Vulcans to a 3-0 sweep of Art U in lone match of the week...ranked second in hitting (.538), first in kills per set (7.67) and first in scoring (8.17 points per set) for the week in the PacWest...totaled 24.5 points on 23 kills and three block assists.

Stephanie McBride Stephanie McBride - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-11, MH, Newbury Park, CA/Newbury Park)...helped GCU to 3-0 week with outstanding defense...totaled 16 blocks on four solos and 12 assists during the week...averaged 1.33 blocks per set - tied for third-best in the conference for the week.

Skyler Moon - Dominican (Jr., 6-0, MB/RS, Cambria, CA/Coast Union)...hit .359 for the week while leading the Penguins to their first victory of the season - a 3-2 triumph at Chaminade on Oct. 30...recorded 21 kills in 39 attempts while committing just seven errors.

Taylor Parker - California Baptist (So., 6-0, S, San Diego, CA/Scripps Ranch)...ranked third in assists per set for the week...averaged 10.25 after totaling 82 in eight sets.

Kyra Pelayo - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-3, DS, San Jose, CA/Saint Francis)...led PacWest in digs per set (8.38) for the week...totaled 67 digs in eight sets as HPU claimed two wins in St. George, UT, over Dixie State on Oct. 24 and 25.

Kristen Preach - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-10, S, Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep)...helped Antelopes to a 3-0 record during the week, including a pair of non-conference victories in New Mexico on Oct. 24 and 25...led the league in total assists (118) for the week...averaged 9.08 per set - sixth in the PacWest for the week.

Pihana Kea - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-5, S, Honolulu, HI/Punahou)...led Sea Warriors to a 2-0 week with back-to-back wins at Dixie State on Oct. 24 and 25...averaged 9.62 assists per set and totaled 77 assists in eight sets...ranked fourth for the week in the PacWest in assist average.

Shelby Taylor - Grand Canyon (Jr., 6-0, MH, Phoenix, AZ/Phoenix Christian)...helped Antelopes to a 3-0 record during the week, including a pair of non-conference victories in New Mexico on Oct. 24 and 25...led the league in total blocks (19) for the week...had 19 block assists and averaged 1.46 blocks per set - second-best in the league for the week.
