HPU's Courtney Buster earns PacWest Player of the Week
honors
PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Pacific junior center Courtney Buster (Tarzana, CA/International Studies Academy) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Feb. 22, for games contested Feb. 15-21.
Buster had a break-out game against Dixie State on Feb. 20, leading the Sea Warriors to a 91-78 triumph over the Red Storm in the battle for first place. She scored 25 points on 75.0% (9 for 12) shooting and pulled down 13 rebounds.
The one-woman wrecking crew also blocked five shots. She led the PacWest in block average and rebounding for the week, and ranked second in scoring.

Johnna Brown - Dixie State (Fr., 6-0, F, Las Vegas, NV/Centennial)...averaged 17.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week in Hawai‘i...ranked sixth in scoring for the week in the PacWest...shot 58.6% (17 for 29) from the field.
Deanna Daniels - Dixie State (Fr., 5-11, F, North Las Vegas, NV/Centennial)...averaged a double-double - 13.7 points and 10.0 rebounds - in a 2-1 week in Hawai‘i for the Red Storm...tied for second in rebounding for the week in the PacWest.
Kia Gibson - Grand Canyon (Jr., 6-0, C, Nine Mile Falls, WA/Lakeside)...helped guide the Antelopes to a 3-0 week in Hawai‘i...averaged 13.7 points per game while shooting 66.7% from the floor...made 16 of 24 field goal attempts...tied for fifth in shooting in the PacWest for the week...also hit 9 of 10 free throw attempts (90.0%).
Kim Horn - Notre Dame de Namur (Sr., 5-8, G, San Francisco,
CA/George Washington)...poured in 19 points and
snared seven rebounds in lone game of the week for the Argos - a
92-43 victory over Dominican (CA) on Feb. 20...shot 71.4% (5 for 7)
from the field...also had three assists...was 7 for 7 from the line
to lead the league in foul shooting for the week.
Jessie Ingraham - Dixie State (Sr., 5-6, G, Tucson, AZ/Canyon Del Oro)...helped the Red Storm to a 2-1 week in Hawai‘i by averaging 16.3 points per game...made 8 of 15 three-point attempts (53.3%) and averaged 2.7 three-pointers made per game...ranked first in three-pointers made per game and seventh in scoring for the week in the PacWest.
Samantha Murphy - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-8, G, Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep)...helped Grand Canyon to a 3-0 week in Hawai‘i by averaging 17.3 points and 4.0 assists per game...tied for seventh in assist average and ranked fifth in scoring for the week in the PacWest.
Jessica Nolan - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-11, F, Adelaide, Australia/Hallet Cove)...scored 27 points while shooting 81.8% from the field in her lone game of the week - a 72-69 victory over Dominican (CA) on Feb. 18...made 9 of 11 field goal attempts...doled out five assists, grabbed six rebounds and recorded four steals...had a 1.00 assist/turnover ratio...posted highest scoring game of the week in the PacWest.
Dara Tompkison - BYU-Hawaii (So., 5-2, G, Honolulu, HI/Punahou)...averaged 15.0 points per game despite a 0-2 week for the Seasiders...shot 60.0% (9 for 15) from the floor...tied for ninth in shooting and tied for 10th in scoring for the week in the PacWest...ranked sixth in assist average after averaging 4.5 per game...also tied for second in steals per game for the week (4.0) and tied for third in assist/turnover ratio (3.0)...hit 3 of 6 three-point attempts.
Laura Zasly - Notre Dame de Namur (Jr., 5-9, G, Foster City, CA/Aragon)...scored 13 points and collected 10 rebounds in 92-43 thumping of Dominican (CA) on Feb. 20 - lone game of the week for the Argos...also handed out three assists.
