GCU's Samantha Murphy earns second straight weekly honor

PHOENIX, AZ - Grand Canyon junior guard Samantha Murphy (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep) has earned her second straight Pacific West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor.

The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Nov. 30, for games contested Nov. 23-29.

Murphy led the Antelopes to a 2-0 week by averaging 24.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. She ranked second in the league in scoring average and tied for 12th in rebounds per game.

She also tied for second in the league in assists per game for the week with a 5.5 average, while her steals-per-game rate (3.0) tied for fourth.

Murphy was blistering from beyond the arc, shooting 70% after making 7 of 10.

She ranked fifth in three-point shooting and second in three-pointers made per game (3.5) for the week in the conference.

Ashleigh Frazier - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-11, G, Highlands, CA/Redlands)...ranked eighth for the week in the PacWest in scoring average after posting 14.5 points per game...ranked sixth in shooting (59.1%) after making 13 of 22 shots from the field.

Hina Kimitete - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-3, G, Kailua-Kona, HI/Konawaena)...averaged 15.5 points per game over two contests to rank fifth in scoring for the week in the PacWest...tied for eighth in the league in assists per game (3.5)...averaged 3.0 steals per contest to tie for fourth in the league for the week...was 4 for 4 from the foul line...tied for third in three-pointers made per game (2.5).
