GCU's Murphy still 1st in scoring in D-II; Dixie State, Grand Canyon, HPU ranked again
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – For the third consecutive week,
the Pacific West Conference has posted a trio of teams in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball West
Region Poll.
Dixie State (13-2/12-2 In-Region) dropped to fifth from third in this week’s poll after falling to Grand Canyon on Feb. 5, while Grand Canyon (17-2/12-2) remained sixth for the third straight week. Hawai‘i Pacific (13-4/10-4) posted a 1-0 week and climbed one spot to ninth in the region.
The Division II women’s basketball committee in Indianapolis released the rankings on Wednesday, Feb. 9. The Top 10 teams are listed in each of the eight regions. The regional rankings will be released weekly on Wednesdays through March 2 leading up to the 64-team NCAA II selection show on March 6.
Both Dixie State and Grand Canyon remained ranked in the USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches’
Poll that was released on Feb. 8. Dixie State dropped three
spots to 10th in the nation, while Grand Canyon cracked
the Top 10 at #10.
Grand Canyon senior guard Samantha Murphy (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep) continues to lead all NCAA Division II women’s basketball players in scoring with her 25.8 points per game average – nearly five points per game better than second place Amanda Bartlett of Queens (NY) who is averaging 21.0 per contest.
