Dixie State forward Johnna Brown selected PacWest Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
PHOENIX, AZ - Dixie State sophomore forward
Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial)
has been selected the Pacific West Conference Women’s
Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season.
The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Feb. 28, for games held Feb. 21-27.
Brown led the Red Storm to a 2-0 week by averaging a double-double with 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game - all while shooting 59.1% (13 for 22) from the floor.
She ranked 11th in shooting, fifth in scoring and tied for fourth in rebounding in the PacWest for the week.
She also tied for eighth in assists per game (2.5) and tied for sixth in steals per contest.

Tammy Brawner - Dominican (CA) (Gr., 5-6, G, Oakland,
CA/Skyline)...scored 16 points, doled out five
assists and totaled five rebounds in 80-71 loss vs. Art U on Feb.
25...had two steals and made 4 of 5 (80.0%) free throw
attempts.
Erica Carlson - Dixie State (Sr., 6-4, C, Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro)...helped the Red Storm to a 2-0 week by averaging 12.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game...led the PacWest in blocked shots for the week and ranked seventh in rebounding.
Nicole DeRosier - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-9, G, Puyallup, WA/Governor John R. Rogers)...led Urban Knights to an 80-71 victory over Dominican (CA) on Feb. 25...scored 19 points while shooting 54.5% (6 for 11) from the floor...was 3 for 3 from the line, posted two assists and made 4 of 7 (57.1%) three-point attempts...ranked seventh in three-point shooting in the conference for the week.
Alisa Griggs - Academy of Art (Fr., 6-0, F, Milwaukie, OR/Oregon City)...scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds in 80-71 victory over Dominican (CA) on Feb. 25...was perfect from the field (4 for 4)...shot 90.9% (10 for 11) from the line.
Breann Hill
- Dixie State (Sr., 5-10, F, Harrisburg,
PA/McDevitt)...helped keep Red Storm in a first-place
tie with Grand Canyon by averaging 15.0 points and 11.5 rebounds
per game in a 2-0 week...tied for 10th in scoring and tied for
second in rebounding for the week in the PacWest...also tied for
third in assists per game for the week (3.0)...contributed 2.5
steals per game as well.
Hillary Hurley - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 6-2, F, Anderson, CA/Enterprise)...averaged 15.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game despite a 0-2 week for the Vulcans...tied for eighth in scoring and tied for second in rebounding for the week in the conference...also tied for second in blocked shots per game (2.0) for the week.
Samantha Murphy - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-8, G, Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep)...averaged 24.5 points, 2.5 assists, 3.5 steals and 3.0 three-pointers made per game for the week...led Antelopes to a 2-0 mark...helped Grand Canyon keep pace with Dixie State by averaging 22.5 points and 3.5 assists per game...led the league in scoring for the week...broke the 2000-point barrier for her career...made 13 of 14 (92.9%) free throw attempts.
Jessica Nolan - Academy of Art (Sr., 5-11, F, Adelaide,
Australia/Hallet Cove School)...scored 16 points and
collected 10 rebounds in 80-71 victory over Dominican (CA) on Feb.
25...shot 62.5% (5 for 8) from the field.
Richelle Rieben - BYU-Hawaii (Sr., 5-5, G, Coeur d’Alene, ID/Lake City)...averaged 17.0 points per game in a 1-1 week for the Seasiders...shot 50.0% (9 for 18) from three-point land and averaged 4.5 three-pointers made per game...led the league in three’s per game and tied for eighth in three-point shooting for the week.
Katelyn Urquhart - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 6-2, F/C, Highland, WA/Highland)...led the Sea Warriors to a 108-46 win over Chaminade on Feb. 25...scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds in just 18 minutes of action...went 3 for 5 (60.0%) from the floor and 9 for 12 (75.0%) from the line.
