HPU's Mana Hopkins-Vandenakker claims PacWest Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

Mana Hopkins-Vandenakker PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Pacific junior forward Mana Hopkins-Vandenakker (Kona, HI/Konawaena) has been named the Pacific West Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Dec. 20, for games contested Dec. 13-19.

Hopkins-Vandenakker led the Sea Warriors to a 2-0 week by averaging 21.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists per game.

She led the PacWest in scoring for the week, while ranking sixth in rebounding and ninth in shooting (48.5% - 16 for 33).

Hopkins-Vandenakker also tied for 10th in assist average and in foul shooting (87.5% - 7 for 8), and she tied for sixth in steals per game for the week. She made 3 of 7 three-point attempts (42.9%).

Dara Tompkison - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-4, G, Honolulu, HI/Punahou)...averaged 16.5 points, 4.0 steals and 4.5 assists per game in a 0-2 week...ranked third in assist average, tied for second in steals per game, and ranked fourth in scoring for the week in the PacWest...ranked seventh in shooting (52.6%) after making 10 of 19 field goal attempts.

Shanae Vaifanua - Dixie State (Jr., 5-8, G, Hurricane, UT/Hurricane)...helped the Red Storm to a 2-0 weekend by averaging 11.5 points and 4.0 steals per game...tied for eighth in scoring and for second in steal average in the PacWest for the week...ranked 10th in shooting (47.1%) after making 8 of 17 shots from the field.
