Grand Canyon's Samantha Murphy earns 3rd PacWest Player of the Week honor of 2010-11

Samantha Murphy (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep)
has been named the Pacific West Conference Women’s Basketball
Player of the Week for the third time this season.
The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Jan. 3, for games contested Dec. 27-Jan. 2.
Murphy scored 29 points, collected seven rebounds, recorded six steals and handed out 10 assists in a 104-67 dismantling of Texas A&M International on Dec. 31.
She missed a triple-double by one field goal (29 points, 10 assists, 9 field goals made).
Murphy shot 47.4% (9 for 19) from the floor, 87.5% (7 for 8) from the line, and 44.4% (4 for 9) from three-point land.
PacWest Women’s Basketball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll
Nicole DeRosier - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-9, G, Puyallup,
WA/Governor John R. Rogers)...scored 24 points in
85-57 loss at Division I San Francisco on Dec. 29...shot 47.4% (9
for 19) from the floor...also pulled down nine
rebounds...contributed two assists and two steals...made 6 of 11
three-point attempts (54.5%).
Hillary Hurley - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 6-2, F, Anderson, CA/Enterprise)...posted a double-double in 64-48 win over Westminster (MO) on Dec. 30...scored 12 points and inhaled 16 rebounds...also had three assists, three blocks and shot 75.0% (6 for 8) from the line.
Taiyande Huskey - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-4, G, Fullerton, CA/Tustin)...helped the Sea Warriors to a 94-73 victory over Westminster (MO) on Jan. 1...scored nine points, grabbed six rebounds, doled out seven assists and posted four steals in the victory...shot 77.8% (7 for 9) from the foul line...had a 3.5 assist/turnover ratio.
Meloday Ladrido - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 5-5, G, Vallejo, CA/Vallejo Senior)...led the Sea Warriors to a 94-73 victory over Westminster (MO) on Jan. 1...scored 17 points, grabbed five rebounds and handed eight out assists in win...also had two steals and made 3 of 5 (60.0%) attempts from three-point land...boasted a 4.0 assist/turnover ratio.
Rosalyn Nelson - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-8, G, Phoenix, AZ/Deer
Valley)...scored 20 points, doled out six assists and
shot 60.0% (9 for 15) from the field in Antelopes 104-67 thumping
of Texas A&M International on Dec. 31...also registered seven
steals to top the PacWest for the week.
Skye Savini - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 5-10, G, Los Angeles, CA/St. Paul)...helped the Sea Warriors to a 94-73 victory over Westminster (MO) on Jan. 1...scored 17 points, posted three steals and contributed two assists in the win...shot 66.7% (8 for 12) from the field.
Maylinn Smith - Grand Canyon (Fr., 5-9, G/F, Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite)...scored 20 points while shooting 70.0% (7 for 10) from the field in GCU’s 104-67 win over Texas A&M International on Dec. 31...went 3 for 3 from the line and recorded three steals...made 3 of 5 (60.0%) three-point attempts.
Hotia Vaaimamao - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 5-10, F, Hilo, HI/Maui)...scored 14 points and collected five rebounds in 64-48 win over Westminster (MO) on Dec. 30...shot 60.0% (6 for 10) from the field.
Katie Zasley - Notre Dame de Namur (Sr., 5-9, G, Foster City, CA/Aragon)...averaged 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in 1-1 road trip to the state of Washington...helped Argos to upset of Central Washington...also averaged 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game...made 5 of 7 free throw attempts (71.4%).
Laura Zasley - Notre Dame de Namur (Sr., 5-9, G, Foster City, CA/Aragon)...averaged 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in 1-1 road trip to the state of Washington...helped Argos upset West Region foe Central Washington...shot 48.0% (12 for 25) from the floor...went 4 for 4 from the line...averaged 2.5 steals per game.
