Hawai‘i Pacific visits Dixie State tonight in PacWest Women’s Basketball Game of the Week
SAINT GEORGE, UT – With six teams separated by one
game in the loss column, tonight’s Hawai‘i Pacific at
Dixie State women’s basketball contest will be one of the
most intriguing PacWest Game of
the Week broadcasts of the year.
Each week during the women’s basketball season, the PacWest will spotlight a game that will be broadcast live over the Internet. The Sea Warriors and Red Storm will tip off at 5 p.m. (MST).
HPU is coming off a 77-69 victory over California Baptist on Jan. 19 in Riverside. The Sea Warriors are now 10-6 overall and 4-2 in the PacWest.
Senior forward Mana Hopkins (Kona, HI/Konawaena) was instrumental in handing the Lancers their first conference loss of the season thanks to a 21-point performance.
Senior guard Paris Gravely (Fairfield, CA/Fairfield) scored 15 points in the victory, while senior guard Taiyande Huskey (Fullerton, CA/Tustin) kicked in 13 points and six rebounds.
Dixie State is 9-5 overall on the year and also owns a 4-2 PacWest
mark.
The Red Storm had three players averaging double-figures this year, including senior guard Sheila Adams (Layton, UT/Layton) who tops the team with her 15.4 points-per-game average.
Junior center Becca Thomas (Riverside, CA/Redwood) is averaging 11.1 points per game, but during the conference schedule that mark has shot up to 14.7 through six conference contests.
Junior guard Erica Hayes (East Palo Alto, CA/Menlo-Atherton) averages 10.9 points per game.
