CBU senior center Alexis Johnson earns PacWest Women’s Basketball Player of Week honor
PHOENIX, AZ - California Baptist senior center
Alexis Johnson (Murrieta, CA/Calvary Chapel
Murrieta) has been selected the Pacific West
Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Feb. 20, for games contested Feb. 13-19.
Johnson led the Lancers to a home-and-home sweep of Dixie State that has pushed CBU into a first-place tie with Academy of Art.
Johnson averaged 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, tying for eighth during the week in the PacWest for pulling down caroms.
She shot 66.7% (8 for 12) from the floor - tied for seventh in the league for the week - and made 91.7% (11 of 12) of her free throw attempts. She also averaged 1.5 blocks per contest.

Jallisa Butler - Grand Canyon (Sr., 6-1, F, Las Vegas,
NV/Cimarron)...scored 21 points and tied for the lead
in shooting in the PacWest for the week in a tough 72-69 home loss
vs. Art U on Feb. 13 - lone game of the week for the
Antelopes...shot 88.9% (8 for 9) from the floor...made 5 of 6
(83.3%) attempts from the line.
Paris Gravely - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-5, G, Fairfield, CA/Fairfield)...scored 21 points while shooting 56.3% (9 for 16) from the field in lone game of the week - a 78-50 victory over NDNU on Feb. 17...also had three steals and made two three-point attempts.
Simone Holmes - California Baptist (Jr., 5-8, G, Phoenix, AZ/South Mountain)...averaged 19.5 points and 3.0 assists per game in a home-and-home sweep of Dixie State...shot 80.0% (12 for 15) from the line.
Mana Hopkins - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-10, F, Kona, HI/Konawaena)...scored 16 points, recorded four steals and grabbed 10 rebounds in lone game of the week - a 78-50 victory over NDNU on Feb. 17...shot 50.0% (7 for 14) from the floor.
Hillary Hurley - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-2, F, Anderson,
CA/Enterprise)...scored 21 points, collected seven
rebounds and was perfect from the foul line (5 for 5) in 76-55 win
over Dominican (CA) on Feb. 18 - the lone game of the week for the
Vulcans...tied for PacWest lead in shooting for the week after
making 8 of 9 (88.9%) from the field.
Rhani Kaneaiakala - Chaminade (Jr., 5-9, F, Waimanalo, HI/Kamehameha)...averaged 18.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in a 0-2 week for the Silverswords...ranked eighth in scoring and second in rebounding for the week in the conference...shot 56.5% (13 for 23) from the floor...made 84.6% (11 for 13) of attempts from the foul line...also averaged 2.5 steals per contest.
Kimi Nakamura - Dominican (CA) (Jr., 5-6, G, Sacramento, CA/Kennedy)...averaged 19.0 points while shooting 62.2% (23 for 37) from the floor in a 1-2 week for the Penguins...all three games were in Hawai‘i...hit 55.6% (10 for 18) from three-point land.
Natellie Saia - Notre Dame de Namur (Jr., 5-7, G, Morro Bay, CA/Morro Bay)...averaged 16.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Argos...tied for ninth in scoring and ranked 12th in rebounding in the PacWest for the week...tied for eighth in assists per game (3.5) for the week in the league...also averaged 2.0 steals per game...made 9 of 12 (75.0%) free throw attempts.
Vianai Austin - Academy of Art (Fr., 5-9, G, Portland,
OR/Jefferson)...came off the bench to score 11
points, grab six rebounds and collect three steals during 21
minutes of action in 72-69 victory at Grand Canyon Feb. 13...shot
57.1% (4 for 7) from the field...went 3 for 3 from beyond the
arc...tremendous spark to help Urban Knights end the week tied for
first place.
Shayla Washington - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-9, F, Phoenix, AZ/Trevor Browne)...scored 31 points and inhaled 12 rebounds during a 94-74 win over Dominican (CA) on Feb. 16 - the lone game of the week for the Seasiders...made 12 of 16 (75.0%) free throw attempts in the win.
