HPU senior forward Mana Hopkins selected PacWest Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Pacific senior forward
Mana Hopkins (Kona, HI/Konawaena) has
been selected the Pacific West Conference Women’s Basketball
Player of the Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Friday, Dec. 30, for games contested Dec. 19-25.
Hopkins led HPU to an 87-59 win over St. Ambrose (IA) on Dec. 19 - the lone game of the week for the Sea Warriors.
She scored 28 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and shot 68.8% (11 for 16) from the floor. She also made 3 of 4 (75.0%) of her three-point field goal attempts.

Jallisa Butler - Grand Canyon (Sr., 6-1, F, Las Vegas,
NV/Cimarron)...led Antelopes to a 65-57 overtime win
vs. Simon Fraser (BC) on Dec. 19 - the lone game of the week for
GCU...scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the
victory...shot 55.6% (5 for 9) from the floor.
Joslynn Frazier - Grand Canyon (Sr., 6-0, F, Sacramento, CA/Burbank)...scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out two assists in 65-57 overtime win vs. Simon Fraser (BC) on Dec. 19 - the lone game of the week for the Antelopes.
Paris Gravely - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-5, G, Fairfield, CA/Fairfield)...helped HPU to an 87-59 win over St. Ambrose (IA) on Dec. 19 - the lone game of the week for the Sea Warriors...scored 17 points, pulled down a pair of rebounds and handed out three assists...shot 60.0% (6 for 10) from the floor and recorded four steals...made 4 of 6 (66.7%) attempts from beyond the arc.
Brianna Jessop - BYU-Hawaii (Fr., 6-0, F, Hyrum, UT/Mountain Crest)...scored 11 points, collected seven rebounds and shot 83.3% (5 for 6) from the floor in 67-54 loss vs. Montana State Billings on Dec. 19 - the lone game of the week for the Seasiders...also had two assists and two steals.
Melody Ladrido - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-5, G, Vallejo,
CA/Vallejo Senior)...helped HPU to an 87-59 win over
St. Ambrose (IA) on Dec. 19 - the lone game of the week for the Sea
Warriors...scored 10 points while shooting 57.1% (4 for 7) from the
field...went 2 for 2 from the line.
Taylor Mann - BYU-Hawaii (Fr., 6-2, C, Castle Dale, UT/Emery)...scored nine points and collected six rebounds during 67-54 loss vs. Montana State Billings on Dec. 19 - the lone game of the week for the Seasiders...also went 2 for 2 at the line.
Maylinn Smith - Grand Canyon (So., 5-9, G/F, Mesa, AZ/Mesquite)...scored 22 points, grabbed four rebounds and doled out five assists in 65-57 overtime win vs. Simon Fraser (BC) on Dec. 19 - the lone game of the week for the Antelopes...was perfect from the foul line (12 for 12).
Mikela Thoemmes - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 5-10, F, Honolulu, HI/Roosevelt)...helped HPU to an 87-59 win over St. Ambrose (IA) on Dec. 19 - the lone game of the week for the Sea Warriors...pulled down a dozen rebounds in the win...also contributed six points and two assists.
Susannah Walmsley - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-7, G, Newcastle, Australia)...helped HPU to an 87-59 win over St. Ambrose (IA) on Dec. 19 - the lone game of the week for the Sea Warriors...scored 15 points, pulled down three rebounds and posted seven assists...contributed three steals...went 2 for 2 from the line...shot 45.5% (5 for 11) from the field...had a 7.0 assist/turnover ratio.
Shayla Washington - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-9, F, Phoenix, AZ/Thunderbird)...tallied 21 points, snared 10 rebounds and shot 42.9% (6 for 14) from the floor in 67-54 loss vs. Montana State Billings on Dec. 19 - the lone game of the week for the Seasiders.
