Grand Canyon senior Jallisa Butler selected PacWest Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
PHOENIX, AZ - Grand Canyon senior forward
Jallisa Butler (Las Vegas, NV/Cimarron)
has been selected the Pacific West Conference Women’s
Basketball Player of the Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Dec. 12, for games contested Dec. 5-11.
Butler was named the MVP of the CCAA/PacWest Shootout hosted by San Francisco State on Dec. 9-10 after she led the 17th-ranked Antelopes to wins over Cal State Stanislaus and the host Gators.
She averaged a double-double for the week, posting 11.5 points and 16.0 rebounds per game while shooting 62.5% (10 for 16) from the floor.
She led the PacWest in shooting and tied for first in rebounding for the week.

Sheila Adams - Dixie State (Sr., 5-6, G, Layton,

week (3.0)...ranked second in three-pointers made per game for the
week (2.5).
Taylor Dewees - Notre Dame de Namur (Fr., 5-6, G, Reno, NV/McQueens)...ranked third in the PacWest in scoring for the week...averaged 16.7 points per game despite a 0-3 week for the Argos...led the PacWest in three-pointers made per game for the week (4.0)...shot 41.4% from beyond the arc (12 for 29)...NDNU lost all three games by a combined total of nine points, including two games by two points each.
Alisa Griggs - Academy of Art (So., 6-0, F, Milwaukie, OR/Oregon City)...averaged 13.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game despite 0-2 week for Art U...tied for fourth in rebounding and ranked 10th in scoring for the week in the PacWest...shot 45.5% (10 for 22).
Myriah Hicks - California Baptist (Jr., 5-4, G, Springfield,
MO/Central)...led Lancers to a victory over Hope
International in lone game of the week...scored 21 points...shot
87.5% (7 for 8) from the line.
Hillary Hurley - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-2, F, Anderson, CA/Enterprise)...named to the 2011 AT&T Hoops Classic All-Tournament Team...led Vulcans to a 2-1 week by averaging 15.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game...ranked seventh in rebounding and fifth in scoring in the PacWest for the week...ranked third in shooting in the PacWest after making 59.3% (16 for 27) from the floor...made 14 of 19 free throw attempts (73.7%)...averaged 1.7 blocks per game - good enough for fifth in the PacWest for the week.
Trisha Malaspina - Notre Dame de Namur (Jr., 6-0, C, Burlingame, CA/Burlingame)...named to CCAA/PacWest Shootout All-Tournament Team...averaged 14.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game...NDNU lost all three games by combined total of nine points, including two games by two each...ranked sixth in scoring and tied for ninth in rebounding for the week in the PacWest...shot 45.5% (15 for 33) from the floor...made 14 of 15 (93.3%) free throw attempts.

Maylinn Smith - Grand Canyon (So., 5-9, G/F, Mesa, AZ/Mesquite)...named to the CCAA/PacWest Shootout All-Tournament Team...averaged 14.0 points, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game...tied for seventh in scoring and tied for sixth in assist average for the week in the PacWest...shot 80.0% (4 for 5) from the line...made 4 of 9 (44.4%) three-point attempts.
Shayla Washington - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-9, F, Phoenix, AZ/Thunderbird)...averaged 16.3 points and 9.0 rebounds in 1-2 week...ranked eighth in grabbing boards and fourth in scoring for the week in the PacWest...shot 47.4% (18 for 38) from the floor.
