NDNU freshman guard Taylor Dewees selected PacWest Women’s Basketball Player of Week
PHOENIX, AZ - Notre Dame de Namur freshman guard
Taylor Dewees (Reno, NV/McQueens) has
been selected the Pacific West Conference Women’s Basketball
Player of the Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Dec. 19, for games contested Dec. 12-18.
Dewees led the Argos to a 1-1 week by averaging 22.0 points per game. She led the PacWest in scoring, free throw shooting (14 for 14), and in three-pointers made per game (4.0) for the week.
She also shot 44.4% (8 for 18) from beyond the arc.
PacWest Women’s Basketball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll
Sheila Adams - Dixie State (Sr., 5-6, G, Layton,
UT/Layton)...scored 19 points and handed out five
assists in 79-73 win over Cal State San Marcos on Dec. 18 - lone
game of the week for the Red Storm...also had seven steals...hit 9
of 10 free throw attempts (90.0%)...made 2 of 4 (50.0%) three-point
attempts...had a 2.5 assist/turnover ratio.
Nicole Anderson - California Baptist (Sr., 5-11, F/C, San Jose, CA/Archbishop Mitty)...helped lead the Lancers to 73-67 win over Academy of Art in PacWest opener for both clubs...scored 12 points and collected 11 rebounds in victory.
Alisa Griggs - Academy of Art (So., 6-0, F, Milwaukie, OR/Oregon City)...averaged 10.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in a 1-1 week for Art U...ranked second in rebounding for the week.
Myriah Hicks - California Baptist (Jr., 5-4, G, Springfield,
MO/Central)...led Lancers to 73-67 win over Academy
of Art in PacWest opener for both clubs...tallied 19 points and
shot 63.6% (7 for 11) from the field...also had two steals.
Mana Hopkins - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-10, F, Kona, HI/Konawaena)...averaged 18.0 points and shot 54.5% (12 for 22) from the field in a 1-1 week for the Sea Warriors...also averaged 2.0 steals per game and made 10 of 11 (90.9%) free throw attempts.
Jameia McDuffie - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 5-2, G, Bellflower, CA/Long Beach Poly)...scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds in 49-48 win over Montana State-Billings on Dec. 18...shot 83.3% (5 for 6) from the floor to rank second in shooting for the week in the PacWest...went 2 for 2 from the line.
Jordan Rogers - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-10, G, Sparks, NV/Spanish Springs)...averaged 16.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in 1-1 week...ranked fourth in rebounding and tied for eighth in scoring for the week in the PacWest...shot 52.4% (11 for 21) from the floor...made 5 of 10 (50.0%) three-point attempts to rank fifth for the week in the league.
Maylinn Smith - Grand Canyon (So., 5-9, G/F, Mesa,
AZ/Mesquite)...scored 17 points, grabbed five
rebounds and handed out three assists in 64-48 win over Simon
Fraser (BC) - the lone game of the week for the Antelopes.
Emily Vore - Notre Dame de Namur (Sr., 6-0, C, San Bernardino, CA/Redlands)...helped lead the Argos to a 1-1 week by averaging 17.5 points per game and shooting 75.0% (12 for 16) from the floor...also shot 50.0% (2 for 4) from three-point land.
Shayla Washington - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-9, F, Phoenix, AZ/Thunderbird)...tallied 16 points, snared seven rebounds and shot 50.0% (5 for 10) from the floor in 86-69 loss vs. Western Oregon on Dec. 17 - the lone game of the week for the Seasiders.
