PacWest Women's Basketball Game of the Week - Hawai'i Pacific vs. Dixie State

Susannah Walmsley ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Hawai'i Pacific women's basketball team surfs into St. George, Utah, on Monday evening, Feb. 25, to take on Dixie State in a crucial Pacific West Conference contest that has been selected the PacWest Women's Basketball Game of the Week.

The Sea Warriors, coming off a huge upset of #19 Grand Canyon on Feb. 23, are chasing down a conference title and the top seed in the inaugural PacWest Women's Basketball Championship Tournament that will run March 7-9 at Azusa Pacific University.

An HPU victory over Dixie State would be a huge step toward securing one of the top two seeds and a first-round bye in the tournament.

But the Red Storm has plans of its own. A Dixie State win would lock three teams – HPU, Dixie State and Academy of Art – in a virtual tie with five setbacks in the loss column. All three are fighting for that first-round bye.

Johnna Brown leads Dixie State with her 16.4 points and 12.1 rebounds per-game averages. In conference action she is boasting 19.4 points and 13.1 boards per outing.

HPU is led by Melody Ladrido who is averaging 16.5 points per game, and Susannah Walmsley (photo) who is recording 13.8 points per contest.

The two teams tip off at 5 p.m. MST on Monday evening. Live stats and a video broadcast are available.
