PacWest Women's Basketball Game of the Week: Dixie State @ Art U (Feb. 9, 1 p.m. PST)
SAN FRANCSICO – When Dixie State visits Academy of Art on Saturday, Feb. 9, the two teams could be previewing an opening-round playoff match-up when the inaugural Pacific West Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament commences March 7-9 at Azusa Pacific University.
The Red Storm and Urban Knights are currently tied for the fourth seed in the standings with 7-4 conference records. Hawai‘i Hilo is third at 8-4 and hosts 8-3 California Baptist (not eligible for the tournament) on Saturday as well.
Dixie State is kicking off its weeklong, four-game Bay Area road trip having won just two of its last four PacWest contests after starting the season 5-0 in league play.
But the Red Storm is a dangerous team with standout veteran Johnna Brown who is average 15.2 points and 11.7 rebounds per game this season. In conference play, Brown’s stats are more impressive as the frontcourt player boasts 18.4 points and 12.8 rebounds per contest.
Jordan Rogers leads the Art U attack with her 13.9 points-per-game output and a 6.0 rebounds-per-game contribution.
