BYU-Hawaii’s Brydgette Tatupu-Leopoldo claims PacWest Player of the Week award
PHOENIX, Ariz. – BYU-Hawaii sophomore guard Brydgette Tatupu-Leopoldo (Honolulu, HI/Farrington) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The conference announced the honor on Monday, Jan. 21, for games contested Jan. 14-20.
Tatupu-Leopoldo led the Seasiders to a 2-1 week by averaging 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.0 steals per game while shooting 53.5% (23 for 43) from the field. She ranked second in scoring and 15th in field goal percentage, tied for 19th in rebounding and 11th in assist average, and tied for 10th in steals per game for the week in the PacWest.
Tatupu-Leopoldo was phenomenal from the free throw line, hitting 18 of 19 attempts for a 94.7% conversion rate.
A threat from long range, Tatupu-Leopoldo drained 13 of 23 (56.5%) attempts from beyond the arc to tie for eighth in three-point shooting for the week in the league. She also ranked second in three-pointers made per game after knocking down 4.3 per contest.

Erin Andersen (So., 5-11, F, Lakewood, CO/Green Mountain) – Point Loma – averaged 11.5 points 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Sea Lions…also shot 75.0% (3 for 4) from beyond the arc (left photo).
Maddy Barrett (So., 5-9, F, Fullerton, CA/Troy) – Azusa Pacific – scored 20 points while shooting 50.0% (9 for 18) from the floor in lone game of the week – a 67-65 overtime loss vs. California Baptist on Jan. 15…tied for 16th in shooting for the week in the PacWest.
Jasmine Beverly (Sr., 5-11, F, Houston, TX/Clear Lake) – California Baptist – averaged 14.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Lancers…tied for fourth in rebounding and ranked 16th in scoring for the week in the PacWest…tied for ninth in field goal percentage after making 12 of 21 (57.1%) attempts from the floor.
Johnna Brown (Jr., 6-1, F, Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) – Dixie State – led Dixie State to a 73-69 win over California Baptist on Jan. 19 – the lone game of the week for the Red Storm…scored 24 points, handed out seven assists, pulled down 13 rebounds and recorded a trio of steals…shot 58.8% (10 for 17) from the field – tied for sixth in the PacWest for the week.
Yesenia Garzon (Sr., 6-0, G, San Lorenzo, CA/Arroyo) – Holy Names – averaged 13.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 3.0 assists per game in a 1-1 week for the Hawks…ranked second in rebounding in the PacWest for the week…also ranked second in shooting after converting 72.2% (13 of 18) attempts from the field.
Kirsty Imai (Sr., 5-4, G, Hilo, HI/Waiakea) – Hawai'i Hilo – led Vulcans to a 3-0 week by averaging 14.0 points, 3.0 rebound and 2.0 three-pointers made per game…shot 42.9% (6 for 14) from beyond the arc…shot 82.4% (14 for 17) from the line.
Melody Larido (Sr., 5-3, G, Vallejo, CA/Vallejo Senior) – Hawai'i Pacific – scored 25 points while shooting 52.6% (10 for 19) from the field in a 100-81 road victory at Holy Names on Jan. 19…went 3 for 8 (37.5%) from three-point land and 2 for 2 at the line.
Britney Potestio (Sr., 5-8, G, San Lorenzo, CA/Arroyo) – Holy Names – led the PacWest in scoring by averaging 27.0 points per game…led Hawks to a 1-1 mark…also recorded 3.0 assists and 4.0 steals per contest…hit 86.7% (13 for 15) of attempts from the line…ranked 14th in the league in free throw shooting for the week…topped the PacWest in three-pointers made per game for the week (5.5)…shot 45.8% (11 for 24) from beyond the arc – 14th best for the week.
Skye Savini (Jr., 5-10, F, Carson, CA/St. Paul) – Hawai'i Pacific – helped Sea Warriors to a 2-0 week by averaging 10.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 blocks per game…ranked second in blocks per game, tied for 13th in assist average, and tied for seventh in rebounding in the PacWest for the week…tied for fifth in three-point shooting for the week in the league (50.0%)…made 3 of 5 attempts from beyond the arc.
Keri Stephanoff (Sr., 5-11, F, Gardena, CA/Mira Costa) – Fresno Pacific – led Sunbirds to a 1-1 week by averaging 13.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game…shot 43.5% (10 for 23) from the field and 50.0% (5 for 10) from beyond the arc…tied for ninth in three-point shooting for the week in the PacWest.
Mikela Thoemmes (Jr., 5-10, F, Honolulu, HI/Roosevelt) – Hawai'i Pacific – helped Sea Warriors to a 2-0 week by averaging 19.0 points, 3.0 steals and 4.5 rebounds per game…ranked eighth in scoring for the week in the PacWest…also ranked fourth in shooting (63.0%) after making 17 of 27 field goal attempts.
Katy Wade (Sr., 6-2, F, Portland, OR/Central Catholic) – Academy of Art – recorded 15 points and 16 rebounds in a tough 60-57 loss vs. Hawai'i Hilo on Jan. 19 – the lone game of the week for the Urban Knights…posted a single-game high in rebounding for the week in the PacWest.
Susannah Walmsley (Sr., 5-7, G, New Castle, New South Wales, Australia) – Hawai'i Pacific – led Sea Warriors to a 2-0 week by averaging 19.5 points and 4.0 assists per game…ranked seventh in scoring and tied for sixth in helping for the week in the PacWest…also tied for ninth in shooting (57.1%) after making 12 of 21 shots from the floor…converted 9 of 11 (81.8%) free throw attempts…tied for third in three-pointers made per game (3.0) for the week…tied for fifth in three-point shooting during the week after making 6 of 10 (60.0%) attempts from long distance.
Shayla Washington (Sr., 5-9, F, Phoenix, AZ/Trevor Browne) – BYU-Hawaii – led Seasiders to a 2-1 week by averaging 24.0 points, 13.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game…tied for third in scoring, ranked third in rebounding, and ranked ninth in thievery for the week in the PacWest…connected on 80.8% of attempts from the foul line (21 for 26)…shot 46.3% (25 for 54) from the field.
