Hawai‘i Hilo’s Kamie Imai named PacWest Women's Basketball Player of the Week
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Hawai'i Hilo junior guard Kamie Imai (Hilo, HI/Waiakea) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The conference announced the honor on Monday, Jan. 28, for games contested Jan. 21-27.
Imai led the Vulcans to a 2-0 week by averaging 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 52.0% (13 for 25) from the floor. She ranked 11th in scoring for the week in the PacWest while tying for sixth in collecting caroms.
Imai averaged a double-double during the week and led the Vulcans to wins over BYU-Hawaii and Holy Names to extend Hawai'i Hilo's streak to six straight conference victories and wins in 7 of 8 league games since starting the PacWest season 1-3.

Maya Arellanes (Fr., 5-9, G, Whittier, CA/Rosary) – Notre Dame de Namur – averaged 14.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in leading the Argos to a 2-0 week and back in the playoff hunt…tied for 12th in scoring for the week in the PacWest…ranked 14th in shooting for the week as well…shot 52.2% (12 for 23) from the field (left photo).
Johnna Brown (Jr., 6-1, F, Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) – Dixie State – scored 21 points and snared 13 rebounds in 73-62 loss vs. Azusa Pacific on Jan. 26 – the lone game of the week for the Red Storm…shot 60.0% (9 for 15) from the field…went 3 for 3 at the line…also recorded five steals.
Cindy Ekweozor (Sr., 6-2, C, Spring Valley, CA/Mount Miguel) – Grand Canyon – averaged 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Antelopes…ranked 17th in scoring and ninth in rebounding in the PacWest for the week...shot 50.0% (13 for 26) from the field…ranked fifth in shooting for the week in the league…was perfect at the foul line (10 for 10).
Savannah Erskine (Jr., 5-7, G, Culver City, CA/Culver City) – Point Loma – led Sea Lions to a 2-0 week by averaging 13.0 points, 7.5 assists and 5.0 steals per game…topped the PacWest in theft and assist average for the week…tied for 15th in scoring…ranked 10th in free throw shooting 85.7% (6 for 7) in the league for the week.
Jessica Escorza (So., 5-11, G, Los Angeles, CA/Independence) – Point Loma – led the Sea Lions to a 2-0 week by averaging 19.0 points per game and shooting 54.2% (13 for 24) from the field…ranked 11th in shooting and third in scoring for the week in the PacWest…was perfect at the free throw line (12 for 12).
Renique Fitzpatrick (Fr., 6-0, G, Fairfield, CA/Armijo) – Holy Names – averaged 12.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in a 0-2 week for the Hawks…tied for 18th in scoring and ranked fifth in rebounding for the week in the PacWest.
Alisa Griggs (Jr., 6-0, F, Milwaukie, OR/Oregon City) – Academy of Art – led the Urban Knights to a 1-1 week by averaging 13.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game…tied for 15th in scoring and tied for eighth in rebounding for the week in the PacWest…shot 53.3% (8 for 15) from the field, good enough to rank 12th in the league during the week…shot 76.9% (10 for 13) from the line.
Brianna Jessop (So., 6-0, F, Hyrum, UT/Mountain Crest) – BYU-Hawaii – averaged 10.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game despite a 0-2 week for the Seasiders…ranked fourth in rebounding in the PacWest for the week…led the conference in shooting during the week after making10 of 13 field goal attempts (76.9%).
Judy Jones (Jr., 5-9, G/F, Monroe, LA/Wossman) – Grand Canyon – averaged a double-double by posting 12.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Antelopes…ranked third in rebounding and tied for 20th in scoring for the week in the PacWest…also tied for sixth in assists per game (5.0) and tied for eighth in steals per contest (3.0) for the week in the league…shot 47.6% (10 for 21) from the floor (right photo).
Hannah Kenny (Jr., 5-11, F, San Luis Obispo, CA/San Luis Obispo) – Azusa Pacific – led the Cougars to a 1-1 week by averaging 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game…ranked eighth in scoring and tied for 20th in rebounding for the week in the PacWest…also tied for 16th in shooting after making 12 of 24 (50.0%) attempts from the field.
Melody Ladrido (Sr., 5-3, G, Vallejo, CA/Vallejo Senior) – Hawai'i Pacific – led the Sea Warriors to a 2-1 week by averaging 22.3 points per game…topped the PacWest in scoring for the week…also ranked seventh in field goal percentage after shooting 59.1% (26 for 44) from the floor…tied for sixth in three-point shooting (50.0%) after connecting on 4 of 8 long-distance shots…shot 84.6% (11 for 13) from the line – 11th in the PacWest for the week.
Jameia McDuffie (Sr., 5-2, G, Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) – Hawai'i Hilo – led the Vulcans to a 2-0 week by averaging 18.5 points and 4.0 assists per game…ranked fourth in scoring and tied for 10th in assist average in the PacWest for the week…ranked third in shooting for the week in the conference (61.5%)…made 16 of 26 field goal attempts.
Sarah Nelson (So., 6-4, C, Clayton, CA/Clayton Valley) – Dominican – averaged 11.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game in a 1-2 week for the Penguins…tied for 11th in rebounding and ranked fourth in rejections for the week in the PacWest.
Callie Rhoads (Jr., 5-9, G, Poway, CA/Poway) – Point Loma – led the Sea Lions to a 2-0 week by averaging 16.0 points, 3.5 steals and 7.5 rebounds per outing…tied for ninth in scoring, tied for fifth in steal average, and tied for 16th in rebounding for the week in the PacWest…tied for fourth in field goal percentage (61.1%) after making 11 of 18 shots from the floor…made 7 of 10 (70.0%) attempts from the line.
