Grand Canyon junior Judy Jones earns PacWest Women’s Basketball Player of Week honor

Judy Jones PHOENIX, Ariz. – Grand Canyon junior guard/forward Judy Jones (Monroe, LA/Wossman) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

The conference announced the honor on Monday, Nov. 26, for games played Nov. 19-25.

Jones led the Antelopes a 2-0 week and a sweep of their Thanksgiving Weekend Tournament by averaging 19.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. She topped the PacWest in collecting caroms and ranked second in scoring for the week.

Jones' shooting was phenomenal after making 18 of 29 field goal attempts (62.1%), ranking seventh in field goal percentage in the PacWest for the week. She also averaged 2.0 steals per outing.

Soulijah Evans (Jr., 6-3, G, San Diego, CA/Mater Dei Catholic) – Holy Names – scored 19 points and collected 11 rebounds in lone game of the week for the Hawks – a 71-69 loss at UC Merced on Nov. 21…ranked 11th in free throw shooting (77.8%) for the week after making 7 of 9 attempts.

Simone Holmes (Sr., 5-8, G, Phoenix, AZ/South Mountain) – California Baptist – scored 18 points in 86-57 win over Concordia (CA) on Nov. 24 – lone game of the week for the Lancers…converted 8 of 15 field goal attempts (53.3%)…ranked 14th in shooting in the PacWest for the Week…hit 2 of 4 (50.0%) three-point attempts.

Danna Lynn Hooper (Jr., 5-4, G, Hoolehua, HI/Molokai) – BYU-Hawaii – averaged 15.5 points per game in a 1-2 week for the Seasiders…ranked 10th in scoring for the week in the PacWest…averaged 2.7 three-pointers made per game for the week – third-best in the PacWest during the last seven-day stretch.

Mekiala Qualls Hannah Kenny (Jr., 5-11, F, San Luis Obispo, CA/San Luis Obispo) – Azusa Pacific – averaged 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Cougars…ranked fifth in scoring and tied for 14th in rebounding in the PacWest for the week...shot 72.7% (16 for 22) from the floor – third-best for the week in the league.

Carlotta Kloppenburg (Jr., 5-8, G, Susanville, CA/Lassen) – Point Loma – averaged 15.5 points and 3.5 three-pointers made per game in a 1-1 week for the Sea Lions…tied for eighth in scoring and ranked second in three-pointers converted per contest for the week in the PacWest…hit 7 of 20 (35.0%) long-range attempts.

Kaylah Miller (So., 5-7, G, San Diego, CA/La Jolla Country Day) – Dixie State – led the PacWest in three-pointers made per game (4.0) and tied for second in three-point shooting (50.0%) while leading the Red Storm to a 1-1 week…made 8 of 16 three-point attempts…tied for 13th in scoring for the week after averaging 13.0 points per game.

Charde Stevens (Fr.-r, 5-10, F, Sacramento, CA/Golden Valley) – Fresno Pacific – averaged 12.0 points, 3.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 3.0 steals per game despite a 0-2 week for the Sunbirds…ranked 16th in scoring for the week in the PacWest.

Mikela Thoemmes (Jr., 5-10, F, Honolulu, HI/Roosevelt) – Hawai'i Pacific – helped Sea Warriors to a 2-1 week by averaging 9.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game…tied for eighth in rebounding for the week in the PacWest.

Katy Wade Lesley Vodicska (Sr., 5-7, G, Monterey Park, CA/Holy Names) – California Baptist – scored 11 points and posted 10 steals in 86-57 win over Concordia (CA) on Nov. 24 – lone game of the week for the Lancers…became just the third PacWest player to reach double-digit steals in a single game and posted third-highest single-game total in conference history (record is 14 set by BYU-Hawaii's Hoku Holdcraft on Dec. 29, 2007 vs. Nebraska Omaha)…also had four assists…made 3 of 4 (75.0%) attempts from the line.

Katy Wade (Sr., 6-2, F, Portland, OR/Central Catholic) – Academy of Art – averaged 15.5 points, 10.5 and 3.5 blocks per game in a 1-1 week for the Urban Knights…led the PacWest in block average, tied for eighth in scoring, and ranked fifth in rebounding for the week in the PacWest (left photo).
