GCU’s Judy Jones earns second PacWest Women’s Basketball Player of Week honor
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Grand Canyon junior guard/forward Judy Jones (Monroe, LA/Wossman) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
The conference announced the honor on Monday, Dec. 10, for games played Dec. 3-9.
Jones led the Antelopes a 2-0 start in PacWest action by averaging 21.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game – all while shooting 68.0% (17 for 25) from the field.
She led the PacWest in thefts, ranked second in rebounding, tied for fourth in scoring and ranked fourth in shooting for the week in the conference.

Sonia Aguilar (Jr., 5-8, G, Pinole, CA) – Holy Names – scored 33 points in lone game of the week – a tough 94-89 loss at Art U on Dec. 8…shot 73.7% (14 for 19) from the field to rank third in shooting for the week in the conference…made 4 of 6 (66.7%) attempts from beyond the arc – tied for sixth in the league for the week…also grabbed six rebounds.
Johnna Brown (Jr., 6-1, F, Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) – Dixie State – averaged 14.0 points and 14.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week…the Red Storm picked up a pair of conference victories over Chaminade (86-56 on Dec. 3) and Fresno Pacific (87-64 on Dec. 8)…ranked first in rebounding for the week in the PacWest…tied for 13th in scoring…tied for third in assist/turnover ratio (4.0) and tied for seventh in assists per game (4.0)…also averaged 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest…shot 80.0% (8 for 10) from the line (left photo).
Jasmine Cox (Jr., 5-10, C, Upland, CA/Eisenhower) – Dominican – scored 20 points, collected eight rebounds and posted a trio of steals in a 70-66 PacWest Conference win over NDNU on Dec. 8 - the lone game of the week for the Penguins…shot 56.3% (9 for 16) from the floor to rank 14th in the league for the week.
Taylor Dewees (So., 5-6, G, Reno, NV/McQueens) – Notre Dame de Namur – scored 20 points while shooting 50.0% (6 for 12) from beyond the arc in a 70-66 loss at Dominican on Dec. 8 – the lone game of the week for the Argos…tied for 10th in three-point shooting for the week in the league (right photo).
Renique Fitzpatrick (Fr., 6-0, G, Fairfield, CA/Armijo) – Holy Names – scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds in lone game of the week – a tough 94-89 loss at Art U on Dec. 8…shot 50.0% (4 for 8) from the field…blocked five shots – single-game high for the week in the PacWest.
Jordan Giles (Jr., 5-7, G, Rock Springs, WY/Rock Springs) – Dixie State – averaged 10.5 points, 3.0 steals and 5.0 assists per game in a 2-0 week for the Red Storm…Dixie State picked up a pair of conference victories over Chaminade (86-56 on Dec. 3) and Fresno Pacific (87-64 on Dec. 8)…tied for third in assist average and in steals per game for the week in the league…shot 87.5% (7 for 8) from the line.
Jasmine Grant (So., 5-8, G, Tucson, AZ/Catalina Magnet) – Holy Names – amassed 12 points, nine assists and nine rebounds in lone game of the week – a tough 94-89 loss at Art U on Dec. 8…posted the single-game high in assists for the week in the PacWest…missed a triple-double by one assist and one rebound.
Kelly Hardeman (Fr., 6-0, F, Manila, Philippines/Faith Academy) – Azusa Pacific – led Cougars to 51-36 win over Biola in their lone game of the week on Dec. 3…scored 23 points…made 4 of 4 free throw attempts…shot 55.6% (5 for 9) from three-point land – ninth-best in the league for the week…also blocked two shots.
Myriah Hicks (Sr., 5-4, G, Springfield, MO/Central) – California Baptist – totaled 16 points, six rebounds and three assists while shooting 66.7% (6 for 9) from the field in a 72-37 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Dec. 5 – the lone game of the week for the Lancers…tied for fifth in shooting for the week in the conference (left photo).
Brittney Lewis (Sr., 5-9, G/F, Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Etiwanda) – California Baptist – unleashed 21 points while shooting 53.8% (7 for 13) from the field in a 72-37 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Dec. 5 – the lone game of the week for the Lancers…went 3 for 3 from the line and 4 for 8 (50.0%) from beyond the arc…tied for 10th in three-point shooting for the week in the conference.
Jordan Rogers (Sr., 5-10, G, Sparks, NV/Spanish Springs) – Academy of Art – averaged 16.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Urban Knights…Art U beat Holy Names 94-89 on Dec. 8 and lost at Cal State Monterey Bay 79-63 on Dec. 5…tied for eighth in scoring and ranked 11th in rebounding in the PacWest for the week…shot 84.6% (11 for 13) from the foul line.
Yvonne Sanchez (Jr., 5-5, G, Pomona, CA/Garey) – Dominican – scored 12 points and handed out five assists without committing a turnover during a 70-66 PacWest Conference win over NDNU on Dec. 8 - the lone game of the week for the Penguins…went 2 for 2 from the line and made 2 of 5 (40.0%) three-point attempts (right photo).
Jasmine Sauser (Fr., 5-8, G, Hacienda Height, CA/Brea Olinda) – California Baptist – totaled 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists in 72-37 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Dec. 5 – the lone game of the week for the Lancers…led the PacWest in shooting (80.0%) and in three-point percentage (100.0%) for the week…went 4 for 5 from the field and 3 for 3 from beyond the arc.
Maylinn Smith (Jr., 5-9, G/F, Mesa, AZ/Mesquite) – Grand Canyon – helped lead the Antelopes to a 2-0 start to the PacWest season with wins over Chaminade and Hawai'i Hilo…averaged 10.0 points, 3.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game while posting a 2.3 assist/turnover ratio…shot 50.0% (9 for 18) from the field.
Keairra White (So., 5-6, G, Bakersfield, CA/Bakersfield) – Fresno Pacific – scored 22 points in an 87-64 loss vs. Dixie State on Dec. 8 – the lone game of the week for the Sunbirds…made 12 of 14 (85.7%) attempts from the line.
