Wilkes boasts 9 points, earns Player of the Week
PHOENIX, AZ - Dixie State senior middie Mikala Wilkes (Cedar Hills, UT/Lone Peak) has been named the Pacific West Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 5, for games played Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
Wilkes had a phenomenal game against Academy of Art on Sept. 28 in a 7-0 Red Storm thumping. She scored four goals, added an assist, and finished the day with a nine-point effort.
Wilkes tallied a natural hat-trick by scoring three straight goals from the 40th minute through the 70th minute and had her hand in Dixie State's final five goals of the game.

CA/Amador)...posted a 1-1 week for the Argos in
net...stopped 18 of 19 shots on goal over two games...recorded a
.947 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average over 180
minutes of action...shut out Dominican (CA) 1-0 on Oct. 2...dropped
a tough 1-0 decision on Sept. 28 vs. Grand Canyon.
Shanna Brown (right) - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-9, GK, Fairbanks, AK/Lathrop)...recorded a shutout victory vs. Chaminade on Oct. 3...halted all three shots flung her way...Vulcans won the contest 4-0.
Kaylan Jackson - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-3, M/F, Tucson, AZ/Amphitheater)...scored two goals and totaled four points for the Antelopes in a 1-2 week...score both goals in tough 3-2 loss at Dominican (CA) on Sept. 30.
Emily Lambert - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 5-4, M, Guerneville, CA/El Molino)...registered a four-point afternoon vs. Chaminade in Hawai‘i Hilo's 4-0 victory on Oct. 3...scored the game-winning goal just over eight minutes into the game...assisted on the second and third goals of the contest...finished with a goal and two assists.
Stephanie Malone (left) - Dominican (CA) (Fr., 5-5, F, Sacramento,
CA/Rosemont)...posted the first five points of her
college career during the week...posted all five points vs. Grand
Canyon in a huge 3-2 victory...scored back-to-back goals within 29
second to rally the Penguins from a 2-1 deficit to a 3-2
victory...assisted on game's first goal that gave Dominican (CA) a
1-0 lead.
Camille Peterson - Dixie State (So., 5-6, M, North Logan, UT/Sky View)...tallied three points on a goal and an assist in Dixie State's 7-0 victory over Academy of Art on Sept. 28...it was lone game of the week for the Red Storm.
Becky Ploeger - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-5, GK, Broomfield, CO/Standley Lake)...blanked Grand Canyon 1-0 on Oct. 3 in a key PacWest road contest...halted all five shuts fired her way...posted her second shutout of the season and improved her overall record to 5-0-0.
Kayla Poe (right) - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-8, F, Mesa,
AZ/Dobson)...tallied game-winning goal for the
Antelopes on Sept. 28 in a 1-0 victory over NDNU.
Brenna Rhoades - BYU-Hawaii (So., 5-7, D, Modesto, CA/Johansen)...scored the game-winning goal vs. Grand Canyon on Oct. 3...punched in decisive sore at 73:24 to break a scoreless draw...Seasiders won their lone contest of the week 1-0.
Alexis Tershay - Notre Dame de Namur (Fr., 5-3, F, Sunnyvale, CA/Fremont)...scored game-winning goal on a penalty kick vs. Dominican (CA) on Oct. 2...it marked the first goal of her collegiate career.
