GCU goalie Mileena Buchei earns PacWest Player of the Week honor

After 2-0 stretch, GCU junior goalkeeper Mileena Buchei chosen PacWest Player of the Week

PHOENIX, AZ - Grand Canyon junior netminder Mileena Buchei (Stansbury, UT/Grantsville) has been chosen the Pacific West Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 7, for games played Aug. 31-Sept. 6.

Buchei led the Antelopes to a pair of victories vs. Cal State San Bernardino and Mesa State. In 180 minutes she produced a 2-0-0 record with a 0.50 goals against average and an .833 save percentage. She halted five of six shots on goal and pitched a shutout vs. Mesa State on Sept. 6.

Aislinn Finfrock (left) - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-2, F, Glendale, AZ/Independence)...posted an assist on game-winning goal vs. Mesa State on Sept. 6...fired first shot that was deflected and then redirected into net by teammate Kayla Poe.

Shayla Holmsted - Dixie State (So., 5-5, F, Lehi, UT/Lehi)...scored Red Storm's lone goal in 5-1 loss at UC San Diego on Sept. 5.

Kaylan Jackson - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-3, M/F, Tucson, AZ/Amphitheater)...scored game-tying goal vs. Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 3...the Antelopes rallied for a 2-1 victory.

Shannon Larsen - Dixie State (Sr., 5-3, F, Salt Lake City, UT/Skyline)...scored game-tying goal in 48th minute vs. Montana State-Billings on Aug. 31...Dixie eventually fell 3-2.

Lauren Minami - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 5-3, F, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA/Mililani)...scored Vulcans' lone goal of the week during a tough 2-1 double-overtime loss at Westmont (CA) on Sept. 1.

Sally Olsson (left) - Notre Dame de Namur (Sr., 5-6, M, Hillsboro, OR/Century)...tallied lone goal of the game for Argos vs. Sonoma State in 3-1 loss on Sept. 2.

Kayla Poe - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-8, F, Mesa, AZ/Dobson)...tallied game-winning goal in the 74th minute vs. Mesa State on Sept. 6...pounced on a ricochet following an initial save by goalie...GCU won 1-0.

Kelsey Tesoro - Dixie State (Fr., 5-9, M/D, Las Vegas, NV/Centennial)...scored a goal and had an assist for three-point week for the Red Storm...scored goal vs. Montana State-Billings on Aug. 31.

Mikala Wilkes (right) - Dixie State (Sr., 5-5, M, Cedar Hills, UT/Lone Peak)...posted three points in three games for the Red Storm...tallied a goal and an assist...goal came in the 86th minute to force overtime vs. Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 3...assisted on game-tying goal vs. Montana State-Billings on Aug. 31...Dixie State finished 0-3 for the week.
