BYU-Hawaii drops a hard-fought 1-0 decision to UC San Diego in NCAA second round

Waipahu, HI - The Brigham Young University-Hawaii women’s soccer team lost a hard-fought 1-0 decision to UC San Diego today in the second round of the NCAA II West Regional Tournament. The loss brings the Seasiders’ outstanding season to an end with a 14-2-2 overall record.
UC San Diego scored the game’s only goal on a header by Ellen Wilson in the 15th minute following an excellent corner kick by Hayley Johnson. The Seasiders had only a few scoring opportunities against the tough Triton defense, most of them coming in the second half, but failed to get a shot on goal in the game.
UC San Diego finished with a 12-7 shot advantage and had 15 corner kicks to just one for the Seasiders. BYU-Hawaii goalie Megan McCain stopped five Triton shots.
UC San Diego will move on to play Seattle Pacific in the next round of the tournament.
