Academy of Art rookie Hannah Emmett picked as Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

PHOENIX, AZ - Academy of Art freshman forward/midfielder Hannah Emmett (Halifax, NS, Canada/Citadel) has been chosen the Pacific West Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for 2010.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Wednesday, Sept. 8, for matches contested Aug. 30-Sept. 5.

Emmett reeled off three second-half goals en route to her first career hat-trick and a seven-point game.

She also assisted on the game’s first goal and helped push the Urban Knights to a 7-1 stomping of Bethany on Sept. 4 in Soquel, CA.

Rebecca Laporte - Grand Canyon (Fr., 5-7, F, London, England/Ashmole)...had the assist on the game-winning goal in the 76th minute of a 2-1 GCU victory over St. Martin’s on Sept. 3.

Marina Nesic - Grand Canyon (So., 5-3, M/F, Koceljevic, Serbia/Nada Dimic Zemun)...scored game’s first goal on a penalty kick in tough 2-1 overtime loss vs. Cal State San Bernardino...also scored game’s first goal on a penalty kick on Sept. 3 in a 2-1 GCU win over St. Martin’s...finished week with four points on two goals.

Camille Peterson-Jensen - Dixie State (Jr., 5-6, M, North Logan, NV/Centennial)...set up game-winning goal with a through ball into the 18-yard box...earned the assist...Dixie State scored the goal in the 25th minute and held on for a 1-0 victory over Mary (ND) on Sept. 4...game was played at Montana State-Billings.

Kayla Poe - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-8, F, Mesa, AZ/Dobson)...scored game-winning goal in 2-1 GCU victory vs. St. Martin’s on Sept. 3...winner came at 76:50.

Analysa Rodriguez - Hawai‘i Hilo (Fr., 5-5, F, Chino Hills, CA/Ruben S. Ayala)...scored game’s first goal for Vulcans in 1-1 double-overtime tie vs. Cal State East Bay on Sept. 4.

Jasmine Sharpe - Academy of Art (So., 5-5, F/M/D, Tacoma, WA/Thomas Jefferson)...scored one goal and contributed two assists in 7-1 Art U. pounding of Bethany (CA) on Sept. 4...finished game with four points...assisted on game-winning goal.

Dacee Stephens - Dixie State (So., 5-8, M, Hyde Park, UT/Sky View)...scored game-winning goal for Red Storm in 25th minute during a 1-0 victory over Mary (ND) on Sept. 4...game was played at Montana State-Billings.
