Penguin rookie netminder Megan Herring claims latest PacWest women’s soccer award

PHOENIX, AZ - Dominican (CA) rookie netminder Megan Herring (Santa Rosa, CA/Montgomery) has been named the Pacific West Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 25, for games contested Oct. 18-24.

Herring led the Penguins to a 2-1 road trip through Hawai‘i during the week, posting a 0.67 goals against average while registering two shutouts.

She blanked Chaminade 2-0 on Oct. 18 and stifled Hawai‘i Hilo 1-0 on Oct. 20. Her lone loss was a 2-0 setback at Hawai‘i Pacific on Oct. 23.

Herring had 14 saves in the three games, recording an .875 save percentage in the process.

Amber Fuller - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 5-5, M, Pearl City, HI/Kamehameha-Oahu)...scored pair of goals in 2-0 victory over Dominican (CA) on Oct. 23...tallied goals less than 4:00 apart...first score was game-winner and occurred during penalty kick in 48th minute...second goal came off a corner kick in the 52nd minute.

Robin Huddleston - Dixie State (So., 5-2, F, St. George, UT/Dixie)...redirected pass into net at 55:29 to give Red Storm 1-0 victory over Grand Canyon on Oct. 23...credited with game-winning goal.

Hana Klimek - Academy of Art (Fr., 5-11, GK, Olympia, CA/Olympia)...halted all six shots she faced vs. William Jessup (CA) on Oct. 22 in a 0-0 double-overtime draw...credited with a shutout in the tie.

Emily Mearns - BYU-Hawaii (Sr., 5-6, F, San Ramon, CA/California)...totaled three points on a goal and an assist in 5-1 thumping of NDNU on Oct. 23...assisted on game’s first goal at 4:45...made score 4-1 with goal at 68:47.

Kelly Miura - Dominican (CA) (Jr., 5-1, M, Davis, CA/Davis Senior)...tallied the game-winning goal in 68th minute of a 1-0 blanking of Hawai‘i Hilo on Oct. 20.

Kelly Parker - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-2, M, Fullerton, CA/Fullerton)...scored game-winning goal at 11:09 of a 1-0 Vulcan victory vs. NDNU on Oct. 18...headed ball in off a corner kick.

Sanoe Souza - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 5-8, D, Honolulu, HI/Kamhameha-Oahu)...totaled three points in two games during a 1-1 week for the Sea Warriors...scored HPU’s lone goal in 2-1 loss vs. NDNU on Oct. 20...tallied goal at 62:44 to forge 1-1 tie...assisted on insurance goal in 2-0 blanking of Dominican (CA) on Oct. 23.
