4 PacWest players earn spot on 2011 Daktronics NCAA II West Region Women’s Soccer Team
HILO, HI – A quartet of Pacific West Conference
women’s soccer players have earned a place on the
2011 Daktronics NCAA Division II West Region
Team.
Grand Canyon junior midfielder Marina Nesic (Koceljeva, Serbia) was the lone First Team selection, while three PacWest forwards - BYU-Hawaii senior Britt Edman (Salt Lake City, UT/Highland), Hawai‘i Pacific junior Kaua Wall (Kealakekua, HI/Konawaena) and Dixie State rookie Jennifer Mason (Springville, UT/Springville) – landed on the Second Team.
Nesic now will be placed on the national ballot for the 2011 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-American Team that will be announced at the end of the month.
Division II sports information directors representing colleges and universities eligible for NCAA II Championships nominate their student-athletes for the regional and national award.
SIDs vote on the All-Region teams that are aligned with the
Division II Championship structure. Athletes selected as a First
Team choice are placed on the national ballot.
Nesic - the 2011 Pacific West Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Year for the second straight season - helped guide the Antelopes to the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament by recording 26 points on 10 goals and six assists this season.
She converted all three of her penalty kick attempts. For her
efforts, she earned a place on the All-PacWest First Team for the
second consecutive season.
Edman tallied 12 goals, added an assist and totaled 25 points in 16 games for the Seasiders this year. She had four game-winning goals.
Wall, meanwhile, scored nine times with two assists and finished
the season with 20 points. She was credited with a trio of
game-winners.
Both Edman and Wall were named All-PacWest first Team this year.
Mason, who was a Second Team All-PacWest forward in 2011, punched in nine goals and added an assist for 19 points. She had one game-winner.
