HPU midfielder Andrea Aguirre chosen first PacWest Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

Andrea Aguirre PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Pacific sophomore midfielder Andrea Aguirre (Honolulu, HI/Kalani) has been chosen the first Pacific West Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for 2011.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Wednesday, Sept. 7, for games played Aug. 26-28.

Aguirre scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in the Sea Warriors’ 3-1 comeback victory over Holy Names on Aug. 27.

It was the season opener and lone contest of the week for both clubs.

Aguirre scored the game-winning goal at 51:50, giving HPU a 2-1 lead.

She then tacked on an unassisted score at 85:22 to put the Sea Warriors ahead by two.
