6 teams remain unbeaten following opening week of PacWest women's soccer action
PHOENIX, Ariz. - Defending champion California Baptist and Pacific West Conference newcomers Point Loma and Azusa Pacific scored big victories to highlight the opening week of PacWest conference women's soccer play this past week.
CBU defeated Holy Names 7-2 and Fresno Pacific 3-1 to open the conference season with two straight victories. Kelly Jenks scored three straight goals in the first half in the Lancers' victory against the Hawks.
Point Loma goalkeeper Tiffany Kracy blanked both Holy Names and Academy of Art in back-to-back shutout wins as the Sea Lions won their first two contests ever in the PacWest.
APU goalie Michelle Wieland also recorded consecutive blankings as the Cougars stopped ART U and Dominican on the road.
BYU-Hawaii, Hawai'i Pacific and Dixie State also opened with victories leaving six PacWest teams unbeaten after the first official week of conference play.
This week, all of the unbeaten teams are in action. Some of the key matches to watch include Azusa Pacific hosting California Baptist, HPU at BYU-Hawaii, and Point Loma hosting Notre Dame de Namur, while Dixie State continues its big road trip in the Bay Area.
