PHOENIX, Ariz. - The jumbled PacWest women's soccer standings have left eight teams separated by six points in the chase for the conference title after a topsy-turvy week that saw contenders go head to head.

Point Loma (5-1, 15 points) and Dixie State (5-1/15) are setting the pace atop the standings. Point Loma beat Azusa Pacific (4-2/12) last week, lost at Dixie State, then rebounded with a 3-0 shutout at California Baptist (3-1/9) on Oct. 2.

Fresno Pacific (3-1-3/12) had a successful 3-0-1 Hawai'i road trip that included a tie at previously unbeaten BYU-Hawaii (3-0-1/10) to climb into the thick of the chase, while Azusa Pacific edged Grand Canyon (3-1-2/11).

FPU then played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw with Dominican (2-2-1/7) on Oct. 4, while on the same night APU squeaked home a goal with one second left in double-overtime to steal a 2-1 win from Hawai'i Pacific (2-3/6).

FPU's Jae Slocum was the one of the heroines for the Sunbirds as she scored the overtime game-winner against Chaminade (0-5/0) in a 2-1 win and the only goal in a 1-1 twin-overtime draw vs. BYU-Hawaii. Sarah King was stellar in goal for Fresno Pacific all week long.

Point Loma extended its PacWest win streak to four games with a 2-0 home victory over Southern California rival Azusa Pacific on Sept. 25 after Kallie Caldwell scored a goal and added an assist. Tiffany Kracy earned the shutout.

But the Red Storm of Dixie State caught its collective breath after a long road trip in Northern California and blanked PLNU 1-0 on Sept. 29. Kelsey Hansen scored the lone goal of the contest and Abby Johnson picked up the shutout. Two days later the Red Storm repeated the performance with a 1-0 win over Hawai'i Hilo (1-5/3).

Azusa Pacific followed its loss in San Diego with a huge 1-0 win in Phoenix over Grand Canyon on Sept. 29.

Key match-ups on Oct. 6 include Point Loma hosting Hawai'i Pacific and BYU-Hawaii visiting Grand Canyon. BYU-Hawaii visits Dixie State on Oct. 8, while HPU stops in Phoenix to tackle Grand Canyon on Oct. 9.
