Art U’s Beth Barker grabs PacWest Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honor
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Academy of Art junior midfielder
Beth Barker (Santa Clarita, CA/Canyon)
has been selected the fifth Pacific West Conference
Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for 2012.
The conference announced the honor on Sunday, Oct. 7, for the fifth week of games contested Sept. 24-30.
Barker totaled five points on two goals and one assist in a 2-0-0 week for the Urban Knights.
She punched home the game-winning goal with 13 second left in regulation in a 1-0 win over Dominican on Sept. 27.
Barker then assisted on the game-winning goal in the 32nd minute of a 3-1 victory over Holy Names on Sept. 29.
She added an insurance goal in 54th minute to give the Urban Knights some breathing room.

Kallie Caldwell (Sr., 5-7, M, Coronodo, CA) – Point Loma – scored game-winning goal and added an assist in 2-0 blanking of Azusa Pacific on Sept. 25…game-winner occurred on a penalty kick at 38:18…set-up insurance goal at 53:25…finished game with three points.
Massiel Castellanos (Jr., 5-3, F, San Mateo, CA/Woodside Priory) – Notre Dame de Namur – scored two goals and totaled four points in a 5-1 win at Chaminade on Sept. 27…tallied game’s first goal at 23:39…snapped a 1-1 tie with game-winning goal at 64:06.
Adriana Cortes (Jr., 5-5, M, Dale City, CA/Woodside Priory) – Notre Dame de Namur – totaled five points on a goal and three assists in a 2-1-0 week in Hawai‘i...scored goal and had an assist in 4-1 win at Hawai‘i Hilo on Sept. 25…assisted on game-winning and insurance goals in second half of a 5-1 victory at Chaminade on Sept. 27.
Haley Fisher (Fr., 5-8, F, Monument, CO/Palmer Ridge) – Azusa Pacific – scored game-winning goal in 74th minute during a 1-0 victory at Grand Canyon on Sept. 29.
Lauren Gollnick (Fr., 5-5, M/F, Meadow Vista, CA/Del Oro) –

Andrea Huerta-Martinez (So., 5-5, M, Half Moon Bay, CA/Half Moon Bay) – Notre Dame de Namur – scored a goal and added an assist in 5-1 win at Chaminade on Sept. 27…goal came in 74th minute…assist came in 75th minute.
Julie Klandt (Fr., 5-3, M, Bonn, Germany) – Academy of Art – scored two goals and totaled four points in 3-1 victory over Holy Names on Sept. 29…scored game’s first goal at 23:41…tallied game-winner at 32:24.
Megan McCain (Jr., 5-7, GK, Northglenn, CO/Broomfield) – BYU-Hawaii – recorded 1-0-1 record during the week…stopped 13 of 14 shots on net in 200 minutes of action…earned a 0.45 goals against average and a .929 save percentage…repelled all six shots on net in a 2-0 blanking of NDNU on Sept. 29…redirected 7 of 8 shots in a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Fresno Pacific on Sept. 24.
Rachel Rempe (Fr., 5-3, GK, Ontario, CA/Bonita) – Academy of Art – registered a 2-0-0 week in net with a 0.50 goals against average and a .923 save percentage…halted 12 of 13 shots on goal…stopped all four shots in a 1-0 win over Dominican on Sept. 27…redirected 8 of 9 in 3-1 victory over Holy Names on Sept. 29.
Jae Slocum (Sr., 5-3, M/F, Fresno, CA/Buchanan) – Fresno Pacific - scored two goals and totaled four points during a 2-0-1 week for the Sunbirds…tallied game’s first goal in a 1-1 double-overtime tie at BYU-Hawaii on Sept. 24…scored overtime game-winner at Chaminade on Sept. 29 in a 2-1 victory…goal crossed line at 98:19.
Alexis Tershay (Sr., 5-3, F, Sunnyvale, CA/Fremont) – Notre Dame de Namur – scored two goals and had one assist for a five-point week in Hawai‘i…Argos posted a 2-1-0 record…both goals came in 4-1 win at Hawai‘i Hilo on Sept. 25…scored game-winner at 55:05…added second goal at 68:45.
