SKILLMAN, NJ – Announced today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national office, Hawai‘i Pacific's Sandra Wikstrom was named the 2010 recipient of the Arthur Ashe Award.

The award is given to individuals in all divisions at the regional and national level exhibiting outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular, and tennis achievements.

Lauren Conching also was named the Division II West Region Women’s Tennis Assistant Coach of the Year.

Conching helped guide the Sea Warriors to an 18-4 overall record and a berth in the NCAA II West Region Championships.

Conching also works for HPU as the coordinator for athletics marketing.

Sophomore Zora Vlckova (Brno, Czech Republic) was named the Women’s Player to Watch.

The HPU women’s team will play in the NCAA II West Regional on May 6 at Central Oahu Regional Tennis Complex. The Sea Warriors face off with UC-San Diego at 1:30 p.m. (HT).
