Hawai‘i Pacific junior Zora Vlckova chosen first PacWest Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Pacific junior Zora Vlckova (Brno, Czech Republic) has been chosen the first Pacific West Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week of the 2011 campaign.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Sunday, March 13, for matches contested Feb. 1-6.

Vlckova led the Sea Warriors to a victory in their season opener vs. Chaminade on Feb. 5, beating the Silverswords 7-2.

She earned a 6-3, 6-2 first singles victory and claimed an 8-3 third doubles win with freshman partner Florie Paquay (Marche-en-famenne, Belgium).

Irina Morozova - Dominican (CA) (Fr., 5-6, R, San Francisco, CA/West Bay)...claimed the lone victory in season-opening loss vs. Division I Cal State Bakersfield on Feb. 4...captured first singles in a 6-4, 6-4 sweep.

Florie Paquay - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 5-4, Marche-en-famenne, Belgium)...posted a 2-0 mark in season-opening win vs. Chaminade on Feb. 5...earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at fifth singles...teamed up with Zora Vlackova at third doubles for an 8-3 triumph.

Diane Phan - Academy of Art (Fr., 5-3, R, Fremont, CA/Mission San Jose)...registered a 2-0 mark in season-opening loss vs. Sonoma State on Feb. 5...claimed a 6-0, 6-3 sweep at second singles...teamed up with Laone Botshoma for an 8-4 doubles win.

Kunkada Phukchampa - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-6, R, Lampang, Thailand)...earned a first doubles victory with partner Amal Ben El Hadj during 6-3 loss vs. Sonoma State on Feb. 5 in season opener...dropped first singles match in three sets.

Carrie Schuler - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 5-9, Goodyear, AZ/Millennium)...helped Sea Warriors defeat Chaminade 7-2 in season opener on March 5...secured a 6-0, 6-3 sweep at third singles.
