Hawai‘i Hilo advances to 5th place match by blanking Dixie State 5-0

Janelle Ng LAIE, HI – Sixth-seed Hawai‘i Hilo used a doubles sweep and two singles victories in shutting out #7 Dixie State 5-0 on Friday, advancing to the the fifth-place match of the 2011 Hawaiian Airlines Pacific West Conference Women’s Tennis Championship.

The Vulcans will take on Academy of Art on Saturday, April 16, in Laie, HI, at 2 p.m. HT. Dixie State will face Dominican (CA) at 4:30 p.m. HT in the seventh-place match. Times of the matches are subject to change.

Kelsey Daguio and Stacie Grant earned an 8-3 win over Allison Long and Lindsay Snow at first doubles for UHH, while Lindsey Shin and Janelle Ng defeated Hillary Wright and Sarah Hughes 8-2 at second doubles. Third doubles saw Anna Hamlin and Morrisa Kahakui beat Lauren Tarver and Kelley Terry 8-6.

Daguio then knocked off Long (DX-WT) 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, while Ng swept Hillary Wright 6-1, 6-2 at third singles.
