Academy of Art rookie Diane Phan named PacWest Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

Diane Phan PHOENIX, AZ - Academy of Art rookie Diane Phan (Fremont, CA/Mission San Jose) has been named the latest Pacific West Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week of 2011.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Wednesday, April 6, for matches contested March 28 - April 3.

Phan posted a 4-0 week in leading the Urban Knights to a 1-1 mark. Art U beat Dominican (CA) 8-1 and lost to Cal State Stanislaus 6-3.

Phan earned a 2-0 record at fourth singles and claimed another two wins at second doubles.

Amal Ben El Hadj Salina Aranda - BYU-Hawaii (Sr., 5-6, R, Kirksville, TX/Kirksville)...turned in a 2-0 record during a 9-0 sweep of the College of Idaho on March 28...earned a win at third doubles and a victory at second singles.

Amal Ben El Hadj - Academy of Art (So., 5-8, R, Tunis, Tunisia)...helped the Urban Knights to a 1-1 week by posting a 3-1 personal mark...earned a victory at third singles and went 1-1 in overall singles competition during the week...posted a 2-0 second doubles record.

Jamie Fernandez - Dominican (CA) (Jr., 5-2, R, Fresno, CA/San Joaquin Memorial)...recorded a 2-2 record in a 1-1 week for the Penguins...posted a 1-1 singles mark that featured a second singles victory...also went 1-1 at second doubles.

Elwen Li Boud - BYU-Hawaii (Sr., 5-7, R, Chengdu, China)...posted a 2-0 record during a 9-0 sweep of the College of Idaho on March 28...earned a win at first singles and at first doubles.

Elwen Li Boud Shannon McCarthy-Contreras - Dominican (CA) (Fr., 5-6, R, Tucson, AZ/Ironwood Ridge)...recorded a 2-2 record in a 1-1 week for the Penguins...posted a 1-1 singles record that included a first singles victory...also went 1-1 at first doubles.

Shawni Porter - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-11, R, Mesa, AZ/Mountain View)...turned in a 2-0 record during a 9-0 sweep of the College of Idaho on March 28...claimed a third singles victory to go along with a second doubles triumph.

Carrie Schuler - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 5-9, Goodyear, AZ/Millennium)...turned in a 2-0 record during a 9-0 sweep of the College of Idaho on March 29...earned a win at fourth singles and at third doubles.

Anh Truong Anh Truong - Dominican (CA) (Sr., 4-11, R, San Francisco, CA/Galileo)...recorded a 2-1 record in a 1-1 week for the Penguins...posted a 2-0 singles record, including the lone team point in 8-1 loss vs. Academy of Art on April 3...earned a fourth singles victory and a sixth singles win.

Sasha Ulbrichtova - BYU-Hawaii (Fr., 5-8, R, Proprad, Slovakia)...registered a 2-0 record during a 9-0 sweep of the College of Idaho on March 28...earned a win at third doubles and a victory at fourth singles.
