GCU takes 3rd place after beating Art U 5-1 in 2012 PacWest Women’s Tennis Championship

Academy of Art 5-1 to finish third at 2012 Pacific West
Conference Women’s Tennis Championship in San Rafael, CA.
The match was held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at The Marin Tennis Club and wrapped up a three-day, 12-match event hosted by Dominican University of California.
Justine Majan and Cecilia Vergnet each posted 2-0 records in the match after teaming up to take third doubles 8-1, then by winning separate singles matches. Majan took third singles 6-2, 6-1, while Vergnet claimed sixth singles 6-1, 6-2.
Priscilla Annoual won first singles 6-0, 6-3 for GCU, while the tandem of Frederique Van de Velde and Katharina Mittag picked up a win at first doubles 8-3.
Academy of Art’s lone victory came at second doubles when Daniela Amelunge Antelo and Amal Ben El Hadj claimed an 8-3 victory.
Art U’s Kunkanda "Cartoon" Phukchampa received the prestigious PacWest Women’s Tennis Sportsmanship Award that is voted upon by the head coaches of the conference.
