ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL - In the opening round of the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Championship, Hawai‘i Pacific defeated Concordia (NY) by the score of 5-1, advancing to the national quarterfinals on Thursday in Altamonte SPrings, FL.

The Sea Warriors (20-4) will face California (PA) at 9 a.m. EDT on Thursday.

The ninth-ranked Sea Warriors opened the match by taking each of the three doubles games.

At first doubles, Zora Vlckova and Ingrid Cseh secured a hard-earned 8-6 win over Ola Roberts and Cristina Oliveira.

Aleksandra Stankovic and Sandra Wikstrom rallied past the Clippers’ team of Yuliya Plevako and Maria Culaba in second doubles by the score of 8-3, while the sister duo of Nina and Tinka Mihova shutout the Adeline Brennan and Camilla Xavier 8-0.

In singles action, Tinka Mihova won at fourth in a 6-0, 6-0 sweep and Stankovic secured the match with another straight-set 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth.

The Clippers registered their lone win at third singles when Plevako posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Cseh.
