PHOENIX, Ariz. – California Baptist senior outside hitter Ingrid Carmona (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Universidad APEC) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.
The conference announced the honor on Monday, Oct. 8, for matches contested Oct. 1-7.
Carmona led the Lancers to a 2-0 week by averaging 4.88 points, 4.38 kills and 4.50 digs per set. She totaled 39 points on 35 kills, two aces, a block solo and two block assists.
Carmona ranked fifth in scoring, third in kill average, and sixth in digs per set for the week in the PacWest. She totaled 36 digs over her eight sets.
Kathleen Anderson (Jr., 6-1, MB, Lemoore, CA/Lemoore) - Fresno Pacific – led Sunbirds to a 3-0 sweep of Hawai'i Hilo on Oct. 2 by posting a .321 hitting percentage, averaging 4.33 kills per set, and recording 1.67 blocks per set…ranked ninth in hitting, tied for fourth in kill average, and tied for fifth in blocks per set in the PacWest for the week…totaled 16 points on 13 kills, one block solo and four block assists…averaged 5.33 points per set to rank third in the league for the week.
Sophie Burns (Sr., 5-10, S, Valencia, CA/West Ranch) – Azusa Pacific – ranked fourth in assists per set (10.22) in the PacWest despite a 0-2 week for the Cougars…had 92 assists in nine sets.
Ying Chun Chen (So., 5-7, S, Kaohsiung, Taiwan/Chung Shan) – BYU-Hawaii - led the PacWest in assists per set (13.67)…totaled 41 assists in lone match of the week – a 3-0 sweep of Hawai'i Pacific on Oct. 5…tied for eighth in the PacWest in blocks per set (1.33)…had four block assists in the win.
Shih Ting Chen (So., 5-10, OH/MB, Yunlin, Taiwan/Chung Shan) – BYU-Hawaii - led BYU-Hawaii to a 3-0 sweep of Hawai'i Pacific on Oct. 5 - lone match of the week for the Seasiders…totaled 18 points and averaged 6.00 points per set in the win…ranked second in scoring for the week in the PacWest…had 15 kills, two aces and a pair of block assists…ranked third in hitting (.406) and second in kills per set (5.00)…averaged 0.67 aces per set to rank fourth in the PacWest.
Lindsay Elgin (So., 6-3, MB, San Diego, CA/Cathedral Catholic) - Academy of Art – helped lead Art U to a 2-0 week by averaging 3.79 points, 2.86 kills and 1.71 blocks per set…totaled 26.5 points on 20 kills, a block solo and 11 block assists…ranked fourth in block average, 18th in kills per set and 14th in scoring for the week…also hit .265 after posting 20 kills on 49 attempts with seven errors…ranked 15th for the week in the league.
Lauren Hagemeyer (Sr., 6-1, OH, Ridgway, CO/Ridgway) – BYU-Hawaii – ranked first in hitting percentage (.706), eighth in points per set (4.50), and tied for sixth in kills per set (4.00) after pushing BYU-Hawaii to a 3-0 sweep of Hawai'i Pacific on Oct. 5 - lone match of the week for the Seasiders…totaled 13.5 points on 12 kills and three block assists…had no errors in 17 hitting attempts.
Natalie Hamill (Sr., 5-7, S, Laguna Niguel, CA/Santa Margarita) – Point Loma – averaged 10.00 assists per set in a 3-2 loss vs. Dixie State – the lone match of the week for the Sea Lions…totaled 50 assists in the match…ranked fifth in assist average and tied for fifth in aces per set (0.60) for the week in the PacWest.
Jessica Jones (Jr., 5-10, OH, Sacramento, CA/Christian Brothers) - Dominican – averaged 4.33 kills and 41.0 points per set despite a 0-2 week for the Penguins…ranked seventh in scoring and tied for fourth in kill average in the PacWest for the week…had 39 kills, a block solo and two block assists.
Katie Lopez (So., 5-11, OH, Fremont, CA/Irvington) – Holy Names – led Hawks to a 2-0 week by averaging 4.72 points per set…ranked sixth in the PacWest for the week…totaled 42.5 points on 34 kills, eight aces and a block assist…ranked 10th in kills per set (3.78) in the league for the week after amassing 34 in nine sets…ranked second in the PacWest for the week in aces per set (0.89).
Bria Morgan (Fr., 5-11, OH, Soquel, CA/Soquel) – Hawai'i Hilo – led PacWest in kills (6.67) and points (6.83) per set during the week…Vulcans lost 3-0 to Fresno Pacific on Oct. 2 – lone match of the week…totaled 20.5 points on 20 kills and a block assist.
Taylor Parker (Jr., 6-0, S, San Diego, CA/Scripps Ranch) – California Baptist – averaged 10.75 assists per set after totaling 86 in eight sets…ranked third in assist average for the week in the PacWest…helped CBU to a 2-0 week.
Mackenzie Phelps (So., 5-10, L, Prescott, AZ/Prescott) - Grand Canyon – led the PacWest in digs per set (6.40) during a 1-1 week for the Antelopes….totaled 64 digs in 10 sets.
Kristen Preach (Sr., 5-10, S, Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep) – Grand Canyon – averaged 9.40 assists per set in a 1-1 week for the Antelopes…had 94 assists in 10 sets…ranked sixth in assist average in the PacWest for the week…ranked 11th in hitting (.306)…posted 14 kills in 36 attempts with just three errors.
Kim Spring (Fr., 5-9, RS/OH, Bern, Switzerland/Feusi Bildungszentrum and Feusi Sportschule) – Chaminade – led Chaminade to a 1-1 week by hitting .273 and averaging 3.43 kills per set…ranked 12th in kill average and 14th in hitting percentage for the week in the PacWest…also ranked 12th in points per set (3.86) during the week…totaled 27 points on 24 kills two aces and a pair of block assists.
Rachael Smith (Fr., 5-10, S, Clovis, CA/Clovis) - Academy of Art – averaged 12.43 assists per set in a 2-0 week for the Urban Knights…totaled 87 assists over seven sets…ranked second for the week in assist average in the PacWest.
