PHOENIX, Ariz. – Dominican University of California junior outside hitter Jessica Jones (Sacramento, CA/Christian Brothers) has been selected the latest Pacific West Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.
The conference announced the honor on Tuesday, Sept. 18, for matches contested Sept. 10-16.
Jones helped the Penguins to a 2-0 week by leading the conference in hitting (.500) and tying for second in kills per set (4.50).
She also ranked third in scoring by averaging 5.25 points per set after totaling 31.5 points on 27 kills, four block solos and one block assist.
Jessie Alcorn (Jr., 5-11, OH, Fresno, CA/Buchanan) – Fresno Pacific – helped Sunbirds to a 2-0 week…ranked sixth in hitting (.381) and tied for 17th in kills per set (3.00) for the week in the league…had 14 kills on 25 attempts with just three miscues over seven sets.
Bria Morgan (Fr., 5-11, OH, Soquel, CA/Soquel) – Hawai'i Hilo – led PacWest in points per set (6.88) and kills per set (6.50) for the week…totaled 27.5 points in lone match of the week – a 3-1 loss vs. HPU on Sept. 15…had 26 kills and three block assists.
Hannah Butler (Fr., 5-7, L, Fresno, CA/Clovis West) – Fresno Pacific – outstanding defensively once again for the Sunbirds during a 2-0 week…led the PacWest with a 6.86 digs-per-set average during…topped the league in total digs for the week with 48.
Ingrid Carmona (Sr., 5-11, OH, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Universidad APEC) – California Baptist – totaled 39.5 points and averaged 5.64 points per set during a 2-0 week for the Lancers…amassed 30 kills, four aces, three block solos and five block assists over the two matches…tied for sixth in kills (4.29) and fourth in aces (0.57) per set for the week in the league…also ranked 11th in blocks per set (1.14).
Shih Ting Chen (So., 5-10, OH/MB, Yunlin, Taiwan/Chung Shan) – BYU-Hawaii - led BYU-Hawaii to a 3-0 sweep of Chaminade on Sept. 15 – lone match of the week for the Seasiders…totaled 14.5 points and averaged 4.83 points per set in the win…ranked fourth in scoring for the week in the PacWest…had 13 kills, an ace and a block assist…ranked fifth in kills per set (4.33) and tied for 11th in hitting (.333).
Rupia Inck (So., 6-1, OH, Uberaba, Brazil/Governador Campos) – Fresno Pacific – totaled 33.0 points on 30 kills and six block assists during a 2-0 week for the Sunbirds…ranked sixth in points per set (4.71) and third in total points for the week in the PacWest…also tied for sixth in kills per set (4.29) and tied for first in total kills for the week in the league….averaged 3.43 digs per set after posting 24 in seven sets.
Pihanakealoha Kea (Sr., 5-5, S, Honolulu, HI/Punahou School) – Hawai'i Pacific – led Sea Warriors to a 2-0 week by averaging 11.87 assists per set…totaled 83 in seven sets…topped the PacWest in assist average and ranked 14th in digs per set (3.57)…totaled 25 over the two matches.
Kelsey Lardner (Jr., 5-7, RS/S, Auburn, CA/Placer) – Dominican – helped Penguins to a 2-0 week by recording 68 assists in six sets…averaged 11.33 assists per set over two matches and six sets…ranked third in assist average and third in total assists for the week in the PacWest…also ranked sixth in aces per set (0.50) after producing three in six sets.
Karah Mitchell (So., 5-10, OH, Clovis, CA/Clovis) – Fresno Pacific – helped push the Sunbirds to a 2-0 week in wins over Dixie State and highly-ranked Grand Canyon…ranked 10th in scoring for the week in the PacWest after posting 4.29 points per set…totaled 30.0 points on 23 kills, four aces, two block solos and two block assists…averaged 3.29 kills per set (tied for 13th) for the week) and 0.57 aces per set (tied for 4th).
Malika O'Brien Fr., 6-1, MB, Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Alta Loma) – California Baptist – helped Lancers to a 2-0 record on the week by averaging 4.36 points per set…totaled 30.5 points on 18 kills, two aces, three block solos and 15 block assists…ranked eighth in scoring for the week in the league…ranked sixth in total points…led the PacWest in blocks per set (2.57) and ranked third in hitting (.472) for the week…had 18 kills on 36 attempts with one error.
Kristen Preach (Sr., 5-10, S, Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep) – Grand Canyon – averaged 11.67 assists per set in lone match of the week – a loss vs. Fresno Pacific on Sept. 15…totaled 35 assists in the match.
Joy Reinke (Fr., 5-10, OH, Vista, CA/Tri City Christian) – Azusa Pacific – helped the Cougars to a 1-1 week after posting 4.25 points per set…recorded 34.0 points over eight sets featuring 30 kills and four aces…ranked ninth in kills per set (3.75) and tied for sixth in aces per set (0.50) for the week in the PacWest…ranked second in total points for the week.
Hannah Stocking-Siagkris (Jr., 5-10, OH, Ashland, OR/Ashland) – Dominican – led Penguins to a 2-0 week by hitting .345 while averaging 4.50 kills per set…ranked 10th in hitting and tied for second in kills per set for the week in the PacWest…ranked fifth in scoring after averaging 4.75 points per set…totaled 28.5 points on 27 kills, a block assist and an ace.
Siera Taylor (So., 6-1, MB, Guerneville, CA/El Molino) – Holy Names – helped the Hawks to a 2-0 week in conference play by averaging 3.75 points per set and hitting .440 over two sweeps…totaled 14 kills in 25 attempts with just three errors…ranked fourth in hitting in the PacWest for the week…totaled 22.5 points on 14 kills, three aces, three block solos and five block assists…tied for fifth in blocks per set (1.33) for the week in the PacWest…also tied for sixth in aces per set (0.50) for the week.
Rachel Vartanian (Jr., 6-1, OPP, Sacramento, CA/Rio Americano) – Holy Names – led the Hawks to a 2-0 week in conference play by averaging 3.33 kills per set (12th in the PacWest for the week) and hitting .364 (8th)…had 20 kills in 44 attempts with four errors…ranked 10th in block average for the week after posting 1.17 per set…totaled seven blocks on three solos and four assists…ranked 12th in scoring after posting a 4.17 points-per-set mark for the week…totaled 25 points in the two wins.
