PHOENIX, Ariz. – Grand Canyon senior setter Kristen Preach (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep) has been selected the latest Pacific West Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.
The conference announced the honor on Sunday, Sept. 23, for matches contested Sept. 17-23.
Preach led the Antelopes to a 2-0 start to their road trip in Hawai'i by averaging 12.83 assists, and 1.50 blocks per set.
She totaled nine blocks on two solos and seven assists during the week while recording 77 assists over six sets during a pair of 3-0 GCU sweeps.
Preach ranked second in assists per set and tied for fourth in block average for the week in the PacWest.
She also contributed offensively, ranking second in hitting for the week in the conference with a .500 percentage. She posted 13 kills in 24 attempts with just one error.

Kathleen Anderson (Jr., 6-1, MB, Lemoore, CA/Lemoore) - Fresno Pacific – led Sunbirds to a 2-0 week by posting a .486 hitting percentage, averaging 2.71 kills per set, and recording 1.10 blocks per set…ranked third in hitting, 18th in kill average, and sixth in blocks per set in the PacWest for the week…totaled 28 points on 19 kills, four aces and 10 block assists.
Sophie Burns (Sr., 5-10, S, Valencia, CA/West Ranch) – Azusa Pacific – helped lead the Cougars to a 1-1 week…did not record flashy numbers, but produced key contributions on offense and defense…ranked ninth in aces per set (0.60) during the week…had six service aces in 10 sets…also ranked 13th in digs per set, totaling 33 while averaging 3.33 per set.
Ingrid Carmona (Sr., 5-11, OH, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Universidad APEC) – California Baptist – totaled 39 points and averaged 6.50 points per set during a 2-0 week for the Lancers…amassed 34 kills, four aces, and two block assists over the two matches…tied for sixth in kills (5.67) and tied for sixth in aces (0.67) per set for the week in the league.
Shih Ting Chen (So., 5-10, OH/MB, Yunlin, Taiwan/Chung Shan) – BYU-Hawaii - led BYU-Hawaii to a 3-0 sweep of Dixie State on Sept. 22 - lone match of the week for the Seasiders…totaled 18.5 points and averaged 6.17 points per set in the win…ranked third in scoring for the week in the PacWest…had 17 kills, an ace and a block assist…tied for second in kills per set (5.67) and ranked eighth in hitting (.394).
Ying Chun Chen (So., 5-7, S, Kaohsiung, Taiwan/Chung Shan) – BYU-Hawaii - led the PacWest in assists per set (14.22)…totaled 43 assists in lone match of the week – a 3-0 sweep of Dixie State on Sept. 22.
Lauren Hagemeyer (Sr., 6-1, OH, Ridgway, CO/Ridgway) – BYU-Hawaii – ranked fourth in points (5.00) and in kills per set (4.67), and fourth in hitting percentage (.458) in the PacWest during the week…Seasiders swept Dixie State on Sept. 21 in their lone match of the week…totaled 15 points on 14 kills and a pair of block assists…had just three errors in 24 attempts in the match.
Natalie Hamill (Sr., 5-7, S, Laguna Niguel, CA/Santa Margarita) – Point Loma – led PLNU to a 2-0 week by averaging 10.62 assists per set…ranked third in assist average for the week in the PacWest…totaled 85 assists in eight sets.
Rupia Inck (So., 6-1, OH, Uberaba, Brazil/Governador Campos) – Fresno Pacific – helped Sunbirds to a 2-0 week by hitting .320 and averaging 3.71 kills per set…ranked seventh in kill average and 19th in hitting for the week in the PacWest…also ranked ninth in scoring for the week in the league after averaging 4.36 points per outing…totaled 30.5 points on 26 kills, two aces and five block assists…had 10 errors on 50 attempts while recording the 26 kills.
Kristen Johannsen (Jr., 6-0, MB, Phoenix, AZ/Valley Christian) - Grand Canyon - led the Antelopes to a 2-0 week…ranked sixth in hitting percentage for the week in the PacWest with a .447 mark…compiled the average after recording 22 kills in 38 attempts while committing just five errors…averaged 4.75 points per set after totaling 28.5 points in the two wins…contributed one block solo and 11 assists in addition to the 22 kills…topped the PacWest in blocks per set (2.00) for the week…also tied for eighth in kills per set (3.67) for the week in the PacWest.
Kelli LeClair (Fr., 5-10, OH, Yucaipa, CA/Yucaipa) – Point Loma – pushed PLNU to a 2-0 week by averaging 4.56 points and 4.38 kills per set…ranked fifth in kills per set and seventh in scoring for the week in the PacWest…totaled 36.5 points on 35 kills, an ace and a block assist…tied for 13th in hitting as well after producing a .333 mark…committed just nine errors in 78 attempts while compiling the 35 kills.
Bria Morgan (Fr., 5-11, OH, Soquel, CA/Soquel) – Hawai'i Hilo - led Vulcans to a 1-1 week by leading the PacWest in points (6.71) and kills (6.14) per set…totaled 47 points on 43 kills, one ace and six block assists…also ranked 14th in digs per set (3.29) after totaling 23 in seven sets.
Taylor Parker (Jr., 6-0, S, San Diego, CA/Scripps Ranch) – California Baptist – averaged 10.60 assists per set after totaling 53 in five sets…ranked fourth in assist averaged for the week in the PacWest…Lancers posted a 2-1 start to the 2012 campaign.
Mackenzie Phelps (So., 5-10, L, Prescott, AZ/Prescott) - Grand Canyon – ranked second in the PacWest in digs per set (6.50) during a 2-0 week for the Antelopes….totaled 39 digs in six sets.
