GCU's Renee Peck earns Runner of Week honor

PHOENIX, AZ - Grand Canyon rookie runner Renee Peck (Glendale, AZ/Sandra Day O'Connor) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 5, for races contested on Oct. 3.

Peck finished first among Antelope athletes and fourth among Division II runners at the 2009 Grand Canyon University Invitational. She covered the 6K course in a time of 24:38.6 and wound up taking seventh overall.

Natalie Benoy (right) - NDNU (Jr., 5-0, Atwater, CA/H.S. Information not available)...was second among NDNU runners at the 2009 Willamette Invitational on Oct. 3...recorded a time of 21:01.67...placed 175th overall on the 5K course.

Stephanie Biehl - NDNU (So., 5-7, Pleasanton, CA/Foothills)...placed third among NDNU runners at the 2009 Willamette Invitational on Oct. 3...recorded a time of 22:32.62 on the 5K course...placed 195th overall.

Emily Cruz - Grand Canyon (Fr., 5-3, Surprise, AZ/Dysart)...place fifth among all Grand Canyon runners, 24th among four-year institutions, and 35th overall at the 2009 GCU Invitational in Peoria, AZ, on Oct. 3...finished 6K race in a time of 29:38.6.

Arlin Guadian - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-4, Phoenix, AZ/North)...finished fourth among Grand Canyon entries, 18th among four-year institutions, and 33rd overall at the 2009 GCU Invitational in Peoria, AZ, on Oct. 3...finished 6K race in a time of 28:17.7.

Joy Hulsey - Grand Canyon (Fr., 5-3, Peoria, AZ/Sunrise Mountain)...ranked second among Grand Canyon entries, 13th among four-year institutions, and 26th overall at the 2009 GCU Invitational in Peoria, AZ, on Oct. 3...finished 6K race in a time of 27:31.4.

Jezabel Ortiz (right) - NDNU (Half Moon Bay, CA/Half Moon Bay)...finished first among NDNU runners at the 2009 Willamette Invitational on Oct. 3...recorded a time of 20:55.51...placed 172nd overall on the 5K course.

Kathleen Romero - NDNU (So., 5-5, San Carlos, CA/Notre Dame)...posted a time of 26:11.04 at the Willamette Invitational on Oct. 3 in Oregon...finished fifth among NDNU entries.

Evelia Stacey - Grand Canyon (So., 5-4, Safford, AZ/Safford)...ranked third among Grand Canyon entries, 16th among four-year institutions, and 30th overall at the 2009 GCU Invitational in Peoria, AZ, on Oct. 3...finished 6K race in a time of 27:54.6.

Shannon Walsh - Grand Canyon (Fr., 5-0, Glendale, AZ/Sandra Day O'Connor)...finished sixth among Grand Canyon entries...placed 21st among four-year institutions and 36th overall at the 2009 GCU Invitational in Peoria, AZ, on Oct. 3...finished 6K race in a time of 30:04.5.
