HPU's Frida Aspnaes captures third PacWest Runner of the Week honor

PHOENIX, AZ - For the third time this season, Hawai‘i Pacific senior Frida Aspnaes (Norrkoping, Sweden) has been selected as the Pacific West Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 27, for races contested on Sept. 25.

Aspnaes won the Chaminade University Invitational 5K race in Honolulu by posting a time of 18:31.75.

She outdistanced her closest competitor by almost 12 seconds and was one of only two runners to break the 19:00 mark.

Kelsey Elder - BYU-Hawaii (So., 5-0, Lancaster, CA/Quartz Hill)...was 11th overall and fifth among the BYU-Hawaii runners at the Chaminade University Invitational on Sept. 25...covered the 5K course in 19:43.97.

Lacey (Johnson) Krout - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-3, Preston, ID/Preston)...placed fourth overall and first among BYU-Hawaii runners at the Chaminade University Invitational on Sept. 25...finished the 5K course in 19:19.17.

Kim Kuhnert - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 5-8, Leverkussen, Germany)...posted a time of 19:50.27 at the Chaminade University Invitational on Sept. 25...placed second among Sea Warrior runners and 11th overall.

Lacee Kurtz - BYU-Hawaii (So., 5-6, Milford, OH/Milford)...placed ninth overall and fourth among Seasiders at the Chaminade University Invitational on Sept. 25...finished the 5K course in 19:43.43.

Eden Lake - BYU-Hawaii (So., 5-7, Liberty Lake, WA/Central Valley)...helped BYU-Hawaii land seven runners among the Top 12 finishers at the Chaminade University Invitational on Sept. 25...finished the 5K course in 19:46.32...placed 11th overall and sixth among BYU-Hawaii participants.

Chanda Romney - BYU-Hawaii (Fr., 5-3, Forks, WA/Port Angeles)...placed 14th overall and eighth among BYU-Hawaii runners at the Chaminade University Invitational on Sept. 25...finished the 5K course in 20:02.49.

Shannon Whener - Chaminade (Fr., 5-8, Maui, HI/Maui)...recorded a time of 20:21.22 at the Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 25...top runner among the Silverswords...finished 18th overall.
