Dixie State’s Young earns All-Region for placing 10th at NCAA II West Region Championship

Young (Holliday, UT/Olympus) earned All-Region honors
for finishing in the Top 25 of the 2011 NCAA II West Region Cross
Country Championship Saturday, Nov. 5, in Spokane, WA.
Young placed 10th overall in a field of 165 runners by recording a time of 21:54 on the 6K course. The race was held at the Plantes Ferry Sports Complex.
Runners who finish in the Top 25 earn All-Region accolades by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Young was the highest finisher among all PacWest entries.
In the team standings, BYU-Hawaii finished 12th with 312 team points, while Grand Canyon took 19th with a 532 team score. Hawai‘i Pacific was 23rd with a 569.
Seniors Lacey Krout (Preston, ID/Preston) and Katherine Buxton (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg) finished 37th (22:46) and 38th (22:49), respectively, for the Seasiders. Krout was second among all PacWest runners, while Buxton claimed the third-best time.
